As already stated, and as you should know. This song is not of a satanic theme. People are to narrow minded and judgemental to actually discern individuals life views from the gray masses. That's just how it is, but don't go and announce that your a real satanist and add that this song gives satanists a bad name. After reading that even more people will associate it with satanism. You should never interpret Slayer's lyrics so literally. "I've made my choice 666" doesn't necessarily mean "I worship the devil bla bla bla..." or in other songs where they say "hail satan". I've always seen this as slayer saying "we don't worship jesus and if that makes us heathens then so be it". |

I think that it's about how jesus got a hold of this guy and drove him into the ground leading to drugs and suicide, because anything is better than going back to jesus. It could alsobe that he was so tired of life and the drugs so he decided to kill himself becausethen he would get to hang out with jesus in the after life instead. (not all christians believe in hell, considering the whole suicide/sin relationship) What a swinging guy - I laughed so hard the first time I listened to this. |

The first time i listened to this song I thought it was about somebody being born into christianity and one day having his eyes open up wide to realise that it's all an elaborate lie. Having realised that the he can't see or feel gods presence he is tormented with the memories of the life he's lived so far, when they collide with his new way of thinking. (familiar things give way to strange) Even though he has utterly tried his best to find god and completely exposed his soul while doing so (naked before you I stand). He feels that he's been violated, blinded and tormented his entire life and now he's haunted by the memories of this and that he can't speak up against it. However the more I listened to it the more I see it as a person who after being caught, possibly as a POW, more and more loses his faith in the almighty god after the relentless amounts of torture he has suffered, without his powerful god coming to his aid. This gives the POW a sarcastic view of life and god (who am I to judge thy grace). At the moment of his death he doesn't see it as a knife piercing trough him, it's gods betrayal. "God's piercing through my soul". After his death he awakens yet again, not in a torture cell but in hell, to continue on with his endless torment. There's so many details that to me support both of these interpretations but I'll leave it as it is for now. |

I whole heartedly agree with the song being about abortion. But disregarding the obvious I disagree that this makes Slayer pro or anti abortion. To me slayer always makes songs from an unbiased or somebody elses point of view. They very seldom make songs from their own perspective. It's more like "this is what we have to say about it but we leave it to you to decide what's good and what's not". |
