I always had my own ideas of what this song was about until last May, when I saw a dance performed to it. The dancers were two best friends, one a senior in high school, one a junior. The way they danced and interpreted it, it was about saying goodbye to a close friend, how you want to hit rewind and relive all of the good moments, how you have something so special and how hard it will be to say goodbye. I had never thought of this song that way until I saw the dance, and it made me cry (I being a senior at the time too). At this point in your life you question everything, And you really know nothing. We just try to justify what's going on and how hard it is, as shown through the song. You've been told this was going to happen for 18 years, and everyone always said it was going to be rough to say goodbye, but no one could ever express in words just how impossible it would be to express to someone how much you care for them. I think it's basically about two friends who want to forget anything bad they've ever done to each other and just enjoy the time they have left. I can't even express how much this song means to me now... I guess it could be construed the same way for two lovers as well. |

I love this song. I think it's about a girl who has major issues, doesn't think she's good enough, pretty enough, etc. and about a guy who loves her even with that. However, she is secretive and cannot open up to him. I think she's one of those people who seems so happy and perfect on the outside, but is broken on the inside. She can't take it when the singer tries to dig deeper and help her ("I guess I should stop trying to figure her out, should know by now that I'm not allowed"), so she leaves him for a man who is more base and allows her to suffer. "He listens to everything she says and he doesn't try to understand never expects to be let in"- this is exactly what the girl was looking for. Someone who knows he will never be let in to her soul and doesn't care. That's just what I've always gotten. |
