To me, the idea of this song is about wanting to be with a person as a significant other though not feeling the love that they wish for once in their (the other person's) presence. They long for this being due to loneliness and the wanting to feel love. "I never meant to leave you dear I just thought I would arrive" -- He didn't want to leave this relationship cause he thought she'd grow on him, that love would come eventually "But it seems here I'm never quite alive Where you are The room won't fill with light" -- With her he doesn't feel that happiness, that warmth that is felt when love is present "But an absence that makes its way into mine" -- But away from her 'love' does come due to loneliness "I'll share your ghost tonight I'll share your ghost tonight" -- He feels love in her ghostly presence, the presence the longs for that isn't truly there. |
