I don't really think it's about dinosaurs and fossils, despite the name. I think it's more of a love song. But i think it's more of the love a parent feels for a child or baby. "True ring true ring Gonna make this crystal sing" and "True ring true ring Gonna make this songbird sing" Could be a reference to the nursery rhyme "hush little baby" "I want nothing tonight to hold but you I keep this pillow it�s such a poor substitute" "And I hold you to the light to see And keep you safe inside of me" "Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up when it�s yours to hold" There are quite a few references to "holding", and i see this more like holding a baby than holding a lover. Also "safe inside of me" could suggest inside the womb. "little arms and a big body" could be reference to a dinosaur, but still it is quite a childish way to describe one. I guess babies have little arms and big bodies, maybe? ha. "When you hit the ground just roll Bend your knees bend your knees, bend your knees When you�re lifting these" parental advice? "And cotton wool you safe in me" again this sounds like something a protective parent would say. I kind of think it's about a father who wants to see his kid but can't "restore these cracks" could just mean how he feels like the child was part of him and now he's falling apart without them. And "Safe inside of me" could be the father trying to replicate the bond the mother and child have after the baby was carried in the womb. The "pillow" could be a dinosaur toy, or dinosaur pillow that belonged to the child, which would explain all the references to dinosaurs. ... or it could just be about a dinosaur/fossil, and every one is going to think I'm some mad woman who is desperate for babies. |

i adore this song. Orlando's voice is so unique. I think the lyrics are really sweet, quite simple, but still special. and i love the way it builds. i think it's meaning is self explanatory, first love, and how you think it will last forever but still the confusion, self doubt and vulnerability that it brings. One of the few songs i can listen to over and over to, and have done ever since i first heard it. |

| What's every one's problem with this song? just because it's more main stream doesn't mean it's shit, in fact i think it means the opposite. and what's so bad about the lyrics? it's just a love song, and compared to most other songs of this topic, i think the lyrics are good, they are intelligent but still convey emotion in a way that most people can relate to, well i know i can, and i think that's the best thing about music, not to sound any more pretentious then i already do. anyway, to summaries, stop over analysing and take music for what it is. rant over. | |
