I feel like he is talking about his girlfriend, who he is steadily getting more aggressive with. He is realizing how bad he is making the relationship so "breaking the habit" cold be either breaking up or suicide |

i respectfully disagree. i think you got part of it but i think its about how people are more focused one party and religion than getting important shit done. |

that's not what they did. they got signed to warner bros and the "hardcore punks" saw them as the bands that they hated and put up a sign on the club green day played at saying "no major bands allowed" |

i think it tells a story about several people who's own personal stories become inter connected.
virginia hitched a ride from florida
"mr. whirly" was a drug dealer who died in san fransisco because he burned his house to destroy evidence
vinnie was one of mr whirly's sellers who was murdered in amsterdam.
gina is the one who killed vinnie and fled to new york then went to vegas (after picking up the hitchiker named virgina) with virginia and the dope

okay, you don't have to like this song. but for God's sake this is a website for song meanings. not your asshole comments that nobody wants to hear (yes, even this comment). if you open a history book that someone else has used, you'd be pissed off to see crap like "wrong", "history sucks", "retarded" and "This part of history sucks, even for history" |

he's not angry with god dude, it's either about some other person who committed suicide (but in 1st person) or jesus, because there's no other reason to talk about the crucifiction |

there are also some biblical quotes in the song:
"father into your hands, i commend my spirit"
and
"why have you forsaken me (etc.)"
they're from different gospels in the new testament |
