Nestaman. You are looking at this song in completely the wrong context. It is a song aimed at the current teenage to 20s generation. It is....
A.) Showing young men and women what they are in for if they join the army, and that recruiters arent afraid to lie to you to get you to sign up. And that it isnt as easy to kill a stranger as it is in Call of Duty.
B.) It is sparking the general population to show more respect for our soldiers who are risking their lives, sanity, and physical ability to defend us. And that whether we are Pro War, Anti War, Democrat, Republican, 3rd party, Rich, Poor, Young or old that we need to defend, respect and support our troops.
This song if anything sparks my patriotism. It makes me honor a close friend of mine lost in battle...R.I.P. Sean Andrew Stokes 1983-2007 |

I know that the video points at it being about Bush. But I think there are multiple meanings. I mean the lyrics just match perfectly with a song about letting life pass you by. Who knows though I am not Rise Against. |

This is one of my favorite weightlifting songs. We place this in the weightroom with my football team and I always play this when I lift on my own. I love this shit. Best Guns and Roses song. It seems like Axl wanted too much in this song. Especially at the end when the guitars are killin it and Axl just keeps screaming(which is good...in moderation) and it kinda just takes from the great drums and guitars. But seriously to eceryone saying Axl isnt talented. Thats bullshit he is a great songwriter just look at these songs he wrote. And he does great rock vocals. Now sure he broke up one of the greatest bands ever formed. But who knows. There could have been more to the story |

When I listen to this song I see lots of possible meanings.
The most outstanding would be...Just living life to fast and taking it for granted than just looking back at all these changes and how fast life has flown by and how he will never get those friends, memories, or opprutunties back. whether caused by a controlling relationship or by just letting life pass you by. Such as "We slam the brakes but the wheels continue on" That is one of the simplest yet most powerful lines in this song and maybe in any song. It shows he realizes he has one life and it is passsing him, so he tries to stop and slow down but he has already lost it. Or it could be the general plain meaning of running away with a girl and leaving behind your life your family your friends but the girl leaves him for someone else and now he is stuck in a boring 9 to 5 pace where is no longer an individual just another piece in the grind. And no longer has his indivuality or his friends. And he is regretting....Its kinda like an In-Depth way to say Bros before Hoes. |
