Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Follow You Into the Dark Lyrics 16 years ago
Hotels have light up signs out by the street that say "no vacancy". If there is a vacancy, then the hotel will only light up the word "vacancy" so people know that they can stop by and get an available room. If all the rooms are taken, then the hotel will light up both words to say that they have "no vacancy." By "illuminating the 'no's' on their vacancy signs" as the song says, he is basically saying that heaven and hell are full to capacity.

3 Doors Down – Here Without You Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about his girlfriend that has just recently died. I picture him thinking these words as he struggles to focus at her funeral. The lines "The miles just keep rollin' as the people leave their way to say hello" seem to portray the friends and relatives that have come from across the country or across the state to come attend her funeral. He pretty much says that no matter how depressed or lonely he gets, he will never stop loving her.

Gary Jules – Mad World (Tears for Fears cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
This is an interesting interpretation, and it's reminded me of the poem "The Unknown Citizen" by W.H. Auden. If you've ever read this poem, you'll know that its about the rise of bureaucracy and how people seem to have become simply numbers and statistics. Even if you know numerical and statistical information about someone's life, you cannot draw the conclusion of whether or not he or she was truly happy. You said this song shows how everything is the same. This song implies that life can become mechanical, and therefore happiness can become questionable, no matter how promising your "statistics" are.

I think the part about "Look right through me, look right through me" tells shows that he isn't getting the help he needs for feeling alienated. I think that in simple and casual situations, such as the classroom, he is being ignored, even though this seems to be his time of need. This especially makes sense if you take the funeral interpretation, because I see it as though he has just lost one or both of his parents. While other children wait for their birthdays because they know they will be extra happy and recieve extra attention, I think this person is so low that he is simply waiting for an average day to feel average again. He doesn't need or want extra hype as the other kids do on their birthdays- he just wants to rise from his slump and feel normal again after his loss.

Alter Bridge – Watch Over You Lyrics 16 years ago
For me this is about a guy who believes that he is not good enough for his girlfriend. He decides to leave her sort of for her own good, because he believes there is someone better out there for her (I can't go on, and let you lose it all, it's more than I can take). He still cares deeply for her, and worries over how she will handle things once he is gone. He has always been protective of her, and he is terrified of leaving her.

Linkin Park – New Divide Lyrics 16 years ago
To me, this song is about a relationship, whether it be a friendship or something more, that has recently fallen apart. The beginning of the song describes the initial downfall, and how the other person seems to think that the rift between them is the speaker's fault (And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve). In the chorus I feel like the speaker is asking the other person to give him/her a reason to keep this relationship alive, when really the passion of the music shows that he/she wants desperately to keep the relationship intact. To me it's almost like the speaker is begging the other person to realize that there are reasons to stay together, and I feel as though he/she never does...
