The Who – The Kids Are Alright Lyrics 16 years ago
i agree with musixex... lyrics are straightforward and sweet and kinda sad.

also: you should listen to the live version on "live at the royal albert hall". in the middle of the song, pete sings the following lyrics:

when i wrote this song, i was nothing but a kid,
trying to work out right or wrong to all the things i did,
i was kinda, practicing with my life,
i was kinda taking chances in a marriage with my wife.

i took some stuff, and i drank some booze,
there was almost nothing that i didn't try to use.
and somehow i'm all right, i don't know how, but i'm alright
i shouldn't be, but you know i'm all right

and i look at my kids, and they're alright,
of course they're alright,
what can ever be wrong with kids,
nothing wrong with my kids,
nothing wrong with your kids.

accept their dreams (not sure about that line, it's tough to decipher)

-----------
then roger comes back in:

and sings several lines about being and staying lucky because others are dead.
song then ends in a pete jam on guitar...

really a great great and touching update to a song.
the new version can bring tears to your eyes in the right mood.
