| The Smiths – Sheila Take a Bow Lyrics

Well this makes perfect sense if he wrote the song as a tribute to Shelagh Delaney. He's showing respect for her work, hence, "take a bow." The using of her name isn't the only allusion to her or her work. The line, "how can someone so young sing words so sad" seems to be talking about her since she wrote "A Taste of Honey" when she was only 18. And the "boot the grime of this world" line makes sense too because she wrote the play to address social issues, or "grime of the world" that wasn't being presented. |

I think this song is all about heroin. The Warlocks is highly influenced by the Velvet Underground, especially the Phoenix album. Like the majority of the songs on the Phoenix album, I think this is just a song about heroin (or any drug really) and how it takes over your life. |
