Basically this song is a big fuck you to Steven Jenkins and is pretty much a reflection of the book The Year Of Magical Thinking by Joan Diddion that Vanessa has admitted to being inspired Vanessa. It ties into neuroscience and how the brain is lazy and that consitant thoughts create pathways of magical thinking and that you'll basically have the same brain patterns at the age of 20 to the time of your death. This song vividly expresses the constant need for tragedy, and how it's a preference to have things be more destroyed, dark, and upsetting rather than having light surround you all the time. Vanessa has expressed in concert how "melancholy can be so comforting sometimes". I love this song, it would've been cool to see it on Heroes and Thieves :3 |

i feel she floats is a song about being a ghost, but not exactly realizing it,and having somewhat of a tranquil, euphoric mindset. I think the screaming is a very dramatic, beautiful way to add emotion and detail to the song and definatly gives the haunting vibe that most of the Harmonium album has taken. The song is beautiful, the piano as always is wonderful. One of my favorites :2 |
