for me,this song is about those relationships that are never quite real relationships for one reason or another.. one person or the other refuses to just give into it. "pull on my hand and say, please let's just make it this way" the relationship tense, and everything becomes a struggle "I know you plan out everything that you want to say I wish that we didn't have to go about things this way" "don't get so uptight" and one person isn't looking things from the other person's perspectives "Tell me you love me like you think you want to be loved" |

I think this song is about the feeling when you feel like you can't even handle your own life and you just keep messing things up, maybe by your inaction. ex. "everything i love gets lost in drawers" I wanna hurry home to you put on a slow, dumb show for you and crack you up is one of my favorite lines in any song because I feel like it's just very genuine and realistic. and when he says this: You know I dreamed about you for twenty-nine years before I saw you You know I dreamed about you I missed you for for twenty-nine years it's heartbreakingly beautiful. |
