I think song isn't about God, it's about sin. He personified sin. Examples being: "You're so good at stretching the truth Into a sugar-coated lie" and "I have been dining with the enemy It was a wolf in sheep's clothing" ... Sin is like that. It hides in the most beautiful things, the msot desireable things. And our royalty to it relaly does provoke the anger of a jealous God. This song isn't about satan, its about the sin we all are tempted by..;. It's cool though cuz he finishes the song by saying, "You're so pathetic, Give it a rest. You're not gonna win, you're never gonna," meaning that sin does not have and will never have dominion over us... greatt great use of symbolism in this song. |

I get the whole symbolism and meaning of the song. I just hate how he had to use the marijuana thing. It just throws the whole thing off. I miss the days when John's singles were Daughters and No Such thing. Back when it was real. This song is good, and people can relate to it. But it's not a "blow ur head" theme like the rest of his stuff. Its a money maker theme such as waiting on the world to change.

Such a great song. I think this is a song about a relationship that neither he or her have hope will last. But, moakler still believes in her and how he feels about her, and he's willing to go with it even if it crashes on the shore. |

This song is so great. I love the guitarin this song. It compliments the lyrics so well. I just wish John would record this in a studio. Yet, at the same time, maybe the song would lose its passion....
Now, I think this song is about more than mending a broken heart. I think its about hope more than anything. "Faith is a backless design, But I still choose it" .. this line just shows that even though a situation is impossible, faith and hope is the only option than he'll choose...
I hope the new album (which probably will be a fail) has atleast one song on it about something real, and not just marijuana haha.
