This could also be directed at a child, daughter I guess, from a parent. I always hears it that way and its quite touching. Verse 1: Illustrates that being a child is easy and parenting a child is easier than parenting a teen or adult. The 'Graceless Lady' section to me would be the parent showing that this daughter has done something to make her 'graceless' and that even so, as their parent, they could never walk away i.e unconditional love. Verse 2: To me in the context of this interpretation, this could be the parent saying that the child was either depressed, or suffered a bad childhood, and now that the child is grown, they are holding the resentment and 'showing them the same'. The 'No sweeping exit or offstage lines' etc could refer to the nature of the adult-childs communication towards the parent, i.e "it doesn't matter what you say or how you walk away, I love you all the same and I hold no grudge". Verse 3: This is like a final admission from the parent for letting their child down. Its also an illustration of how they are now grown and how the parent has their 'freedom' but they are also old and running out of time. The final part of the verse, "Faith has been broken tears must be cried. Let's do some living after we die" could refer to the grieving of the relationship, and perhaps the parents desire for them to either begin again, or for the adult-child to begin living again after the grieving process. I know this is long winded and almost definetly not the actual meaning of the song, but I very much feel like it could be. I get an overwhelming impression of unconditional love and of a person who is expressing this love towards someone who is punishing them for something. Its a beautifully sad song. |

I love this song! I especially love; It's a beautiful lie It's a perfect denial Such a beautiful lie to believe in It's oxymoronic and I love that. To me the song is, like most have stated, believing in a lie to cope. Implying that everything is just a game (which technically, it is) makes things seem less important, and easier to lie about, and let go. To me it also kinda brings up that question of what is better, a bitter truth or a beautiful lie? At the end of the day, no matter what the cold hard facts are, whatever you believe is true to you, so if you have to make your own truth to be happy then... =) |

My favourite song by far. For me, about an epihany of finally confronting your real self; the person you are. You've become something you thought you wanted (for whatever reason) but it's broken you. This person has now realised who he really is, and is now confronting the person he has been acting out, saying I don't want you, you're not good for me, I'm over it. |

| Lifehouse – Into The Sun Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This is what I think the song is about. "It's been a while since you last saw me One breaks down and the other runs free These eyes can't see the days break Too late for the other's mistake" About two people, who have maybe split up, and he let her go. They haven't seen each other for a while, and she's free while he is regretting the loss. It was maybe >his< mistake. "Sit down thinking what have we done? Let me inside Is it all over before it's begun? Please give me some time" Trying to get back together. "I never meant to let you go Why did I leave? Maybe we'll never know But I'm a man now broken on the ground I'm in need and I think that it shows" He wants her back, breaking it has destroyed him. "And now we're running Into the sun Getting close to something Into the sun You know that we're falling We're falling back Into the sun" The sun could be a symbol for happiness, the heat of things, their relationship. The one they want to get back. I love this song. |

"If I traded it all If I gave it all away for one thing Just for one thing If I sorted it out If I knew all about this one thing Wouldn't that be something" Excellent song. If not a bit repetative :P To me, this song is about wanting something badly, this "one thing", but having to make a massive sacrifice to do so. The song suggests this is a person; "But you should be mine" I like it :) It's a happy song, it makes me happy anyway. I think it kind of leaves you with that feeling that whatever it is that you want, you should go for it. Trade everything, if it's worth it, because it would "be something". |
