No, no, I think the song has this double meaning that many songs have: they can apply to a relationship, because they're written like that on puspose, but that's only the surface, as somebody said above. I think the deeper meaning is the writer talking to himself. If you take this approach, the song has a completely different meaning than if you see it only as a relationshiplike song: It has to do with the writer having changed, and having somehow lost the hopes and happiness of an early life; having done reckless things as he grew up, and not being able to find that childish happiness again, not sure that it even exists, that it ever existed. However, he decides to accept himself and giving himself a chance saying: "I'll love whatever you become...our lives have just begun". But it still feels he can't find any hope, or find those memories. I think this makes sense considering the other songs and the name of the album. |

I think the meaning is similar to "the prodigal son" Anyway, I put the lyrics in the same order as the video, and it turned out pretty much the same meaning, but It made it a little bit more clear to me: 0. I'm not sure but i also think it's about war the weak who never had their turn to speak, nobody wants war, but leaders decide to make it... the second paragraph could mean that he wants to stop and make peace, cause we are like brothers...bleeding into one again... and then everything is here forever till it goes...hmm maybe someday they'll realize all the damage but it will be to late, and nothing will be left but the memory of good times, like a picture on a shelf... hmmm forgoten my way home? maybe this means that he can't return and mend things...every day a false start...because they are try to start the way but they get it wrong, like they cannot find a way to go back..."and it burns my heart...turn back!" ....Or maybe its not about war, but its clearly that the guy want's to go back and fix something |

I think this song is about our vane dreams, and how we try to reach them but we never get satysfied. "Im waiting for my moment to come...cause now I always see my dreams in everything I touch, feel the cold hands in everything that I love...like some magnificent skyline out of my reach but always in my eyeline" cold hands...like empty hands maybe? That's why we tumble down in spiral, no progress..never get what we crave for "I fashioned you from jewels and stone...in the image of myself...gave you everything you wanted...but...you slip through my fingers...laughing at the things that I have planned" This reminds me of the Bible, where often is said that idols (objects which people tend to praise) are made by men themselves, from stone and wood, and lifeless, or vain, because they don't really mean anything. So the song sais something like, I created my own vane dreams and gave all my effort to reach them but I never get them and now I don't have any control over them. And then..."When we fall in love, we're just falling in love with ourselves" I think this is clear, its something I feel often, and discourages me about love. Most of the times we don't know what love is really, and only want somebody because we don't want to be alone, or because we need to feel loved, or want some attention, or feel atracted or whatever, so we are actually takin care of ourselves. So its kind of a vain thing when we feel that kind of love. And then..."Did you wanna be..a winner?...an icon?...the president?...start a war?...have a family?...be in love? Some things that people look for but its pointless if they're jus being sel-centered "I never saw the light"...because this takes us nowere and we will never be satysfied and maybe we will be always looking for more... Well, that's what I think, maybe Im got it all wrong, and Im writing nonesense... Have a nice day! |
