The Lonely Forest – Coyote Lyrics 14 years ago
That's one way to look at it I hadn't thought about.

I have a different take on it though. Also, for this interpretation, keep in mind I think he is saying does my "scent" seem interesting. Coyotes/dogs can smell things on you deeper than just scent, ie: fear, pain, etc...

I see it as this guy got cheated on or hurt by an ex badly, but still wants to be with her. Despite how she treated him, he's slept with her even though he knows he should stay away from her. The coyotes are his friends, telling him to stay away from the bitch and getting pissed (menacing sound) at him for putting himself back into the situation.

I've been in this situation before and kept going back to someone who hurt me, and my friends could always sense it or tell when I had, and they got shitty and gave me hell for it.

As for come back home, it will be alright, hold her hand... He's pleading to her to just come back to him and things will be alright this time despite their past.

Just my take on it.

Ween – Roses Are Free Lyrics 16 years ago
I feel like this song is juxtaposing these typical motions of everyday life (as referenced by the different holiday actions - christmas comes, put up tree, halloween, carve pumpkin) and puts them against the things you do that have much deeper meaning that we don't think about either -> staying with someone out of comfort (pretend you still love me), relying on your destiny to get somewhere, driving in your car is actually being able to explore and be free in this country, etc... I think the rest of the song kinda toys with this, but the first verse really drives it home for me. As for understand what you put on the tree, it means actually think about these trivial motions we go through. Don't believe the florist part means that you should think about things as well... Just because he says their free doesn't make it so.
