| Incubus – Black Heart Inertia Lyrics | 16 years ago |

One of my favorites. The lyrics are just really beautiful and well thought out. I think they key here is the word "inertia", or, as the always reliable *cough* wikipedia defines it, "the resistance of mass, i.e. any physical object, to a change in its state of motion." Skeptical of love, the singer needs someone to come along and change his views. He wants change, but his heart is resistant to it. "Lover, can you help me?" is a plea for this change. And about the mountain line, I think it's about finding a meaningful love that's above just "conquering" someone physically, but finding someone to be able to share the joys of life. Somehow, I relate this song to Anna Molly. He knows the one for him is out there, and he's calling out to her. |
