Paramore – Decode Lyrics 16 years ago
This is my favorite song of all the time. I can completely relate to the lyrics, and Hayley's vocals are just breathtaking. Many people dismiss the song just because of it's relation to Twilight, but besides the obvious Bella X Edward translation, it has a meaning for normal relationships too.

How can I decide what's right
When you're clouding up my mind?
(A girl cannot get her mind off this guy...by "deciding what's right", she could mean staying in a relationship with him that's hurting her, or she may possibly be in another relationship while she is in love with this guy.)
I can't win your losing fight
All the time
(She sees him as a lost cause; she's always saving him from something, possibly himself, which goes back to the bad relationship theory.)
Not gonna ever own what's mine
When you're always taking sides
(Her own thoughts, her own feelings, the life she built for herself, ergo the possibility of her being in another relationship. Maybe he's always taking his own side or changing his mind, trying to convince the girl otherwise.)
But you won't take away my pride
No, not this time
Not this time
(She doesn't want to let him control her, like he's done before.)
How did we get here?
I used to know you so well
How did we get here?
Well, I think I know
(She thought she knew this guy, but he changed, or at least their feelings for eachother changed (friends to lovers?)
The truth is hiding in your eyes
And it's hanging on your tongue
Just boiling in my blood
(He denies his feelings for her, or that he is wrong, but she feels the same way)
But you think that I can't see
What kind of man that you are
If you're a man at all
(The person he's become, which is what she's disgusted with)
Well, I will figure this one out
On my own
(I'm screaming, "I love you so")
On my own
(But my thoughts you can't decode)
(While trying to decide, it becomes evident she loves him, but perhaps the guy doesn't know that, or at least what she's going through.)

Do you see what we've done?
We've gone and made such fools
Of ourselves
Do you see what we've done?
We've gone and made such fools
Of ourselves
(If the girl is in another relationship, this can refer her cheating on her boyfriend for this guy...they're so in love, even though they know it's wrong. Or, they're in a bad relationship, and they shouldn't have been together at all, because it resulted in disaster.)

There is something I see in you
It might kill me
I want it to be true
(Once again, she loves him, even though she knows in the end it will end badly for her)

Such an emotional song...does my translation make any sense?

The Fray – We Build Then We Break Lyrics 16 years ago
This song sounds like a vengeful friend speaking to a lover who's hurt a girl he cares about. The first verse is obvious in meaning, and "They will be 3 steps behind, You will not know what's got you" I think refers to feelings of guilt and remorse, or memories. "Hold your breath, till it's over, there's something left underwater", Probably signifies the friend's revenge...saying, watch out, I'll make you join my friend underwater. "You've been quiet, there are things that you do not speak of
But if you stay gone a little longer your keys won't work", this another "watch out" line, saying you can't hide or run away from what you did, you'll be stuck here forever. "Cause I will be 2 steps behind", is of course, referring to himself now. This song is amazing--wonderfully creepy, and the ending makes me want to dance, really. XD

Coldplay – 42 Lyrics 16 years ago
When I first heard the song, the unnerving but somehow alluring sound of it is what drew me in. I could tell simply by that it had something to do with dead. I agree that "Those who are dead, are not dead, they're just living in my head", refers to people he has lost, and that they're alive in his memories. I think he is so grief-stricken it made him become apathetic towards life itself, and shut himself up within his memories, because that's all that makes him feel alive anymore. "And since I fell for that spell, I've been living there as well." As for "Time is so short and I'm sure there must be something more", I think he is very aware of the problem he has, and possibly tries to fix it by finding the meaning of life. Ergo, the title of the song, "42", which is supposed to be the answer to life, the universe and everything. "You thought you might be a ghost, you didn't get to heaven but you made it close". That could either refer to himself; he has completely given up and he considers himself dead and is simply walking the Earth as a ghost. Or, he convinced himself the ones he lost are still there with him, they must be because they're still "living in his head", so he tells himself they're just ghosts haunting him. Either way...I basically see this as a song of a mentally disturbed person's thoughts on death and his journey trying to confirm them. Heehee...am I making any sense?
