I think it's obvious. She just broke up with her boyfriend, and she's down, so she's waiting for a song that'll sympathize with her and get her out of the rut and happy again. |

I think she changed him back into a man, but she didn't want to settle down when she realized the tale was over. She didn't want to give up her desire to venture to new places, and live her own life as she wanted. So she left, saying he couldn't give her what she needed; now that this was over, she had to find new experiences. So I guess you could say her freedom occupied her heart more than the beast(in the movie version, she wanted more than the every day life), though she wants to remain his friend. Now that he's human again, things will become repetitive and boring again. And, though she doesn't return his love, he will always love her with the same primitive ferocity as when he was a beast. |

| Emilie Autumn – Save You Lyrics

Yes, this song embodies elements of Twilight and such, but it's a theme that's found throughout history: You try to stop the one you love from loving you because, should you stay together, they'll get hurt because of decisions you've made in the past, or something along those lines. And you love them so much, you'd rather suffer alone than have them share in it. And its so hard to let them go because you've finally found what you were looking for and you have to force it away to protect it from yourself; which is rather ironic. Altogether a very emotional, heart-aching piece of music that many can relate to. It's fantastic. |

| Emilie Autumn – What If Lyrics

I love all the interperetations people have come up with, and all share the thought that the narrator is asking someone (a lover, parent, school mates, etc.) 'What if I'm not what you think I am?' Like where she mentions them sitting in the high-backed chair, indicating someone who thinks they're above everyone else, and that she, by being with them, is too. But because she likes 'to sit upon the floor', or prefers to keep her feet on the ground, she's saying that she's equal to everyone else, and that this person is too arrogant and ego-centric to accept that they are too. She doesn't like all these assumptions and expectations, and the only way to make the other put reality into focus is to break free from them.
Many of us can relate to this: wanting to break free from another's will or demands whether at home, or school, or with your significant other. To make them realize that things aren't what they want them to be, and they have to accept that. |

I can't hear this song without crying. The sounds are so emotional, you can tell the words were chosen for their effect. And those lines: I needed you to notice... that's all I wanted! It's so packed with longing and pain, you can feel it from where you sit. |
