"I'm bolted from within from long conniving heights the hail, it makes a special sound that always stays into the night" Sounds like a first person account of someone who has committed evil deeds and is now locked in a "prison" where his lies won't be given any merit. The storm of events in the aftermath of the evil deeds creates "hail" in the mind of the prisoner that pounds away until he falls asleep. Seems like its soothing though. "She tells me I'm not capable of what they accuse me with no remorse I stand and say that guilt is what I plead" Pretty self explanatory... "My devil makes me dream like no other mortal dreams with a blank eye corner" The evil deeds he's done are "his devil" and he gets such a rush from doing those things that he feels no remorse and the blank eye corner is an eye without tears being shed. "The only way to see him in the tunnel where he slept by the longest tusk of corridors numb below the neck" I'm not positive about this one but it seems like the message is that if you dance with the devil the only way you'll continue to do so is to sacrifice all freedom. A tusk of corridors just sounds like a jail hallway to me...could be totally wrong. You sacrifice your body to the evil and it controls it, leaving you with a "numb" body. This is just my interpratation and I could be completely off. I'll add more when I've analyzed the lyrics longer. |

I don't know this for sure but I don't have much of a doubt as to the meaning of this song. India Ink is a reference to Henna, or the Indian art of creating flower-like designs out of temporary ink. The song is about being with someone that makes you feel so sure that you know that they're the one that you're willing to "carve" your body, but when you suggest to them the idea of permanence they're repulsed. Basically every lyric in the song is about someone who can't commit when you're ready to commit and "India Ink" is the symbol for that lack of commitment. |
