Belle & Sebastian – Dress Up in You Lyrics 15 years ago
Come on, this is ridiculous. In every album if you listen to some fans there are like 2-3-4 songs about Isobel. I can understand the album immediately after the break-up with obvious references like in "I'm A Cuckoo" but come on, like someone already said he's a grown man (and not a girl about this song in particular, which is obviously from a girl's perspective), and they seem to be on good terms since she is going to appear in a concert B&S are organizing and headlining this December. By the way the only really obvious one (I'm A Cuckoo) has completely different tone than this or other "angry" ones fans speculate about. I also find it very rude and gossipy to speculate this way.
This as I was saying is crystal clear, it's a girl who feels kind of a love/hate/envy feeling towards an old friend who has been successful and probably distanced herself from her once very close friend. She tries to put on a cool attitude thrashing her, but in reality she still loves and misses her, and is at the same time jealous of her success and worrying about her. It's very beautiful and moving, maybe my favourite from the album.

I don't think it can be about Campbell, she left a couple of years after this.

The New Pornographers – All the Old Showstoppers Lyrics 15 years ago
funny thing about Neko's song, in the adedd verses she is clearly talking about John The Baptist(the locusts and stuff), but she also says "Oh John The Baptist, Oh John Divine". Maybe it's just a coincidence, or maybe it's supposed to mean something, but i can't think of anything.

Neko Case – Fever Lyrics 16 years ago
I don't think she means anything obscure and hidden, I think this is pretty literal, Neko doesn't use too much metaphors. I mean, if the tornado in love with a person is just a tornado in love with a person, as she said, I guess it's safe to say that this could be just about a person who literally finds themselves fighting a personification of death. In the end I think they do die but woithout just "surrendering" to the grim reaper, I guess just realize that they are at peace with themselves and accept death without needing to be forced by/into it.
Think of it as a fairy tale, I remember an interview where she talked about how grim, dark and haunting fairytales really were before Disney came and ruined it.
Anyway it is certainly not her first song about someone accepting death(see "at last" for example).

Regina Spektor – Laughing With Lyrics 16 years ago
I really really think this is what others have defined "pro-God" and other than hypocritical christians it also attacks people like George Carlin or Bill Maher(both of whom I love) who constanlty(and rightly so in the XXI century if you ask me) make fun of religion. And believe me, being an Atheist who loves Regina I really don't like it nor want it to and I'm also pretty bummed out that as smart person as she is she has this kind of opinion of non-religious people as hypocritical people. If she meant something else it just doesn't come out naturally, but seing as she herself has acknowledge how controversial this song might be I really think she means what I said. Very sad and kind of silly.
