I'm really passionate about this song, and I'm glad you all are, too. However, I think the reference to "morning's teeth [being] lit" is not only a metaphor for something looming dreadfully on the horizon, but maybe symbolizes the horizon itself. I live in New York City, and get up early enough to watch the sunrise. Sometimes it makes the silhouette of the buildings look a little like teeth. It reminds me of a Death Cab for Cutie song called Crooked Teeth: "'Cause at night, the sun in retreat made the skyline look like crooked teeth, in the mouth of a man who was devouring us both." (Here, he is talking about the sunset, but it's the same idea.) I like the idea that it could be literal and metaphorical, but after all, we don't get a lot of magpies here in New York. All these references to birds sort of make me think of a more rural setting. Any opinions? |

i, too, am struggling to put this into words, but here's my best shot: they're really funny people, and i'll always like them for that. i mean, if you've seen a video they've posted on buzznet, or been to a show, they're fun guys! so even though lately, especially after the release of Nothing Personal, i've liked their music less and less, i still like their old music and they're very entertaining people. also, allieg, by a more mature sound do you mean that they've gotten better at playing their instruments? because it's been 7 years since they've started playing music together. also, i don't really think the instrumentals have even improved on this album, but rather the show of talent has declined. they may be talented, but i don't think they're using it very well, or even trying to showcase it. also, you don't have to like every song a band records (or their attitudes outside of the music) for them to be your favorite band. I went to a concert once where a band did almost no talking, just played music. and it was one of the best i've seen. i mostly just like Put Up or Shut Up and So Wrong It's Right. so, i don't like nothing personal as much. that's fine. one more thing. as i mentioned before, they're an entertaining group. but when it comes right down to it, that's not what it's about at all. you don't have to pick a favorite band, but if you do, i urge you to only consider the music. after all, that artist will be your favorite BAND, not your favorite person/people. sometimes i like all time low for both, sometimes not; that's my choice. i'm writing because i have a point to make, not because i'm marveling at their awesomeness or whining about the changes they've made. (and by the way, they already made those changes, and they're probably not going to stop.) that's all. it's just a matter of personal decision. nothing personal. |

| i disagree; they're getting edgier, but the sound is still more produced (i.e. not as raw)as put up or shut up or the party scene. then again, Jennifer's Body is a movie, and a horror movie at that, so the edginess was expected (at least, i expected it.) i'm a big fan, so i'm with them all the way. | |

Right on, sister! xxRACHELRENEExx has a great point. It's their choice to change or go back again and if you don't love it that's fine. Just because you don't like one song, it doesn't mean you can't call yourself a fan. There will always be people who like the new sound, people who don't, and people who are just generally crappy and bitter about a band changing, but it's not your band and that's just something we all have to face eventually. The point is, we all commented because we like All Time Low. There will always be something there to hold on to, whether it's a song or an album. They probably just altered their sound a little bit because they're sick of not being recognized for their true talent. I would be, too. One thing I've noticed is that even though they've changed their sound they haven't changed their style. Sure, if I heard two random songs, one from Nothing Personal and one from The Party Scene I'd say they sound different, but the tunes are just as catchy, the lyrics are just as great, and they're definitely the same people. That's one thing (thank God) we can all count on. If you think you like All Time Low I would definitely suggest attending one of their concerts. I went to see them at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Friday night, and I was so impressed. First of all, I loved all their opening bands, and it was fun to see that some of my favorite bands knew each other so well. The Friday Night Boys and We the Kings were there, and both were fantastic. Finally, All Time Low was excellent live, and all together I thought it was a huge success. Seeing them live reminded me why I truly love them, and only enhanced my interest in their music. If you are able to go see them, I highly recommend it. As nightmarryyou says below, everyone has an opinion, but before you decide for eure I would go see them. But hey, that's just my opinion. |

We the Kings performed this song last night when they opened for All Time Low. It's off their new album, Smile Kid, which comes out December 8. I was actually surprised how great they were live. Travis was amazing, and the instrumentals were awesome. I was really proud to know every lyric to all their songs! If you're thinking about seeing them live, I highly recommend it. I love this song, too. It seemed to catch on pretty quickly because it has a nice beat and a good sound. |
