As I don't know the other albums, I just talk about this song. Reading the lyrics, I wonder if the girlfriend really cheated on him (as many others seem to believe) or if she just ran away from him because he's psycho. He seems to be a conservative or religious and probably fanatic hardliner. He likes Latin "Vade retro, alter ego", "Pacta sunt servanda", "I will carpe the diem" and uses christian phrases (from "the" book) like "ashes to ashes, dust to dust". His mother told him to do what he promised and to finish what he started, because that's noble. (Remember this? Pacta sunt servanda) He is sure, that she doesn't love him ("Tell me that you love me, whore. Make me believe it, oh I know you lie"). Sometime ago they planned to die together like Romeo and Juliet ("I read a book about a man, a love, a woman, how they died"). But she ran away ("It wasn't me who ran away") or was saved ("Unlike the last time here, I now have the means and the will sincere, your knight is nowhere near"). Now he wants to finish what he started and kill her and himself. ("Time to walk with me the last mile") The way he does this (under the moon, at night and with a black candle on her chest) looks quite occult by the way. |

I think the man in the song burned down his town. He is sick because he was always blamed for everything. Now he's listening to some evil voice inside him (the "gollum" part in the beginning). "The story always goes, when the anger wihtin builds up for too long, takes us over and we all are forced to obey." The evil side inside him took control as he himself is "still defeated in my mind". So he burned down the town. "Now the whole mountain burnes, and every man gets what no man deserves." He knows, that the people in the town did not really deserve what he did to them. But as he never deserved what they did to him "the rules are the same for us all". "What was a bad joke is now a reality show": People used to say, he was guilty, but he wasn't. Now he is guilty and "they all know, what I've done" |

Men and wolves killed each other. The wolves stopped killing men 10 generations ago, hoping the men would do so, too. But the men have continued to kill wolves. Now the leader of the wolves/the singer wants revenge. |
