I also have no clue on the "wound" line, no matter how many times I listen to it... hope someone can figure that out! I'm hearing, "and I wish I could have chose the lord, to sever me at the cord". As in umbilical cord. That seems to make more sense to me, as he goes on to "talk" about the apostle telling him he's not allowed to come in. Thus, chose also seems the appropriate choice. We don't get to choose. His inaction would be easier for him to accept if God had forsaken him. Just my two cents. |

| I keep vacillating between whose is the "embarrassing" one; him or her. And by going... are we still on the suicide theme, as in "go"; or is it her leaving him for his brother the going, or "go" as in "we're going in this direction" go. Like, how could it have gone this way, and everyone sees it? Yeah, I'm way too much of an English teacher, and I realize that a simple two letter word can have some many meanings! Any thoughts??? | |

First off, thanks for all of you who have taken the time to type out these lyrics; as I understand, there are no "hard copies" of his two albums? I have been loving following this storyline; and I keep saying to my husband "I can't wait for the third one!!! I need to know how it ends!!!" That said, this particular song totally drew me in. I heard it exactly as Jhurtado . At first I also heard it as the father of these men, the two brothers, and feeling angst over not doing anything to protect our protagonist. But upon closer listening I rethought it. He's talking to his brother... even when he says "Your brother's unfaithful wife" But this, I think, suggests the distance he has from his brother at this point; he doesn't say "my wife". To me, he's removed himself, psychologically, out of the equation. But yes, definitely the anchor, drowning, suicide. Two questions, if anyone has any ideas: 1) what does the title of this song mean??? 2) What does he mean by choose to "stay or stay"? Stay alive; stay in the relationship; stay as in do nothing (like "stay your hand") |
