The Clash – The Guns of Brixton Lyrics 12 years ago
The first verse is obviously about the life of a gangster in Brixton, mainly Rude Boys, and the eventual consequences (jail of death) - the second verse is more difficult because it relates to crime being the way to survival, and that you can't get away from the crime in the council estates and slums, even the police have to be wary of the guns of brixton.

As such it is a morality play (gangsters get caught), but like the "I fought the law" cover song it has a twist, that its not really there choice to live like this .... its survival.

Pennywise – God Save The USA Lyrics 16 years ago
Why are right wingers bothering to comment on lyrics of any "punk" band other than the disney variety like Avril and the pop punk pretneders - Punk was founded on socialist politics and beyond that citing revolution.

That being said, the clear meaning of this sond is that you are living in a feudal state controlled by a wealthy elite who are basically an "aristocracy", with you as worthless serfs enslaved through banks, etc. You have no freedom, rights, hope - just do what you are told. It is actually a pretty well thought out song in the line of DK and Gang of Four.

So if you like the GOP do me a favor and listen to whatever vanilla disney sanctioned crap they produce telling you about how wonderful your life is and don't bother complaining about this kind of music ... I for one, am not going to comment on the meaing of the Jonas Brothers or Kelly Clarkson for you (as if their is any meaning their beyond figuring out how to seperate you from your money!)

Pennywise – American Dream Lyrics 16 years ago
Song is about the coming of the NWO and 1984 style facism. The American Dream (if it ever existed beyond a marketing scam) is nothing but a tool to enslave you to the banks, the wealthy elites who stela your freedom .... Kinda a rewrite of California Uber Alles

Bad Religion – The Biggest Killer in American History Lyrics 16 years ago
I think the vagueness of the song refers to the fact that it is us the "silent" majority who create the environment for all the evil - dropping nuclear bomb, poverty, crime and homelessness, sickness, death torture - its all our fault because we don't demand something better .... we allow this nonsense to continue.
