this is probably the worst interpretation i'm going to make BUT regardless could this song be about his girlfriend? it depends on when they first got together but she was probably the help he needed when he went through those tough times. again...not sure at all but it's a nice song |

anything i say is just what i think the song is about. idk for sure: i think this song is about AJ's tough times being a musician and all the doubts he had about where to go with his life. i remember in one of tds's blogs he said that he understands what it's like to be a starving musician. and i think this is about that "You gave up on your dreams and now you're stuck with that." again, in reference to the blog, he can't imagine the idea of people not following their dreams and going out to choose one of those "boring" jobs. he respects them and all, but he just can't imagine giving up something you love so much to go do something that requires you to wear a suit just because that might be more respected in society. i think that during the hard times he had to go through, he discovered that music is truly his passion and that no matter what anyone thought, it's what he wanted to do. basically, he wants to say fuck you to the people who don't support him. i love that blog! i quoted it on my favorite quotes on facebook and wrote about it on an essay haha |

My interpretation: AJ is sick of those people who don't want him to pursue a career with music. that's why he says "can you hear me? well i don't even care" I love the line "It's been a bad year, so let me sleep in one more day" He's still looking for that something that will tell him music is what he's supposed to be doing, but for now he's happy with what he chose (and thank goodness he chose music) BEST. ALBUM. EVER. ASJDHASKJDAL i want to meet this band so bad and tell the entire universe that they exist. |

I vote this song best one off of Reach for the Sun. It's beyond amazing, but probably because it's the one that makes the most sense to me. I started listening to the dangerous summer about a year and a half ago and i immediately fell in love. The lyrics are so freaking powerful, it's crazy. These guys are my favorite band, especially AJ. He's a sick lyricist. So anyways, cutting to the chase: I think this song is about AJ trying to pursue his career as a musician. He wants his mom to accept the fact that he wants to be in a band and play music full-time. I heard that she kicked him out at one point and i think that the song talks how about how he's trying to stay strong, but that he's not all that hopeful (when he says "I want to pray that I am doing everything right.") Favorite line of the song: "Well I'm an optimist, but only in a perfect world." SO FUCKING GOOD |
