it kind of is like a relationship. the guy/girl is looking for a way out to get out of their relationship. he wants the girl to ultimately tell him why he should stay with her & nothing she does will kill him. If she promises him dignity for staying in a relationship where he feels like he's trapped & dying, then it might give him some leverage. He's been in this relationship & he's beginning to see that he just may be better on his own ("ready to be amazed") & she just might not be right for him. Promise me some dignity If I were to stand and die here 'Cause my heart is somewhere else It's a pain I've never felt he just wants her to finally see what he's saying rather than play him as a joke. he's finally moving on to the thought of him being alone & dealing with the emotions that go on. |

He just wants her to see he really loves her and he wants to work through the issues.
