Avenged Sevenfold – Beast and the Harlot Lyrics 14 years ago
Actually, it specifically stated that any who struck Cain would receive vengeance sevenfold upon themselves:
13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

Which, of course, is what their song "Chapter Four" on WTF was about.

Breaking Benjamin – I Will Not Bow Lyrics 14 years ago
Coming from someone named "adaytoremember", whose band has at least 90% of their past two albums focused on the theme of "Homesick" without really changing anything in their songs. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you think it is lacking in depth, risk, and originality because it's the song most played by radios from this album. Heck, if mainstream radio likes it, it must be lifeless, right?

Avenged Sevenfold – Afterlife Lyrics 16 years ago
Simple. Momento mori. It means having unfinished business. He's choked on ecstasy, which is a drug (surprise!). The entire song is a plea to a) God, and b) a girl who has already died to let him go back and finish his business, to "reconcile his differences with family and friends" (look at their bio on avengedsevenfold.com, click on info on the bottom). Other thing that I saw on a comment, critical acclaim is NOT an anti-war song. It's anti-politics, but it has nothing to do with war. The closest this album has to an anti-war song is Lost, talking about how we're still killing each other.

Jeez. Guys, do we have to take babysteps through this? He's in heaven, described by awesome beauty and grace. On their website, they even explain that this is an example of aut mori, which is having unfinished business. I don't belong here? He's not ready for his afterlife yet. Peace on earth not right, not ready, his life is incomplete. He's saying goodbye to a girl who has already died, knowing he'll see her again. "arrived too early" is premature death, likely by "choking on ecstasy". Much too young to fall. This entire song is a plea to God to release him and to " take him back inside" when his business is finished. I need another chance to live, let me show you the person I wanna be. Simple really.
