| System of a Down – Science (feat. Arto Tunçboyacıyan) Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
I think this song isn't advocating religion or even faith, I think its just about having equality between the science and faith. We've kind of switched from the days of religion persecuting science to the other way around. The song is just saying that science, although has it has some new exciting things happening everyday, isn't the answer for everyone. Some people need faith and when faith actually has an effect on people (not those hypocrytical church goers who only believe in God because their parents do) it can really spark some good things.
The song for me is about how we should respect our differences and try to get past the selfish desire to always be right. There will never be a time on this earth when everyone agrees most likely, so the only way we can have peace is if people buck up and stop being so arrogant about their beliefs on both sides. Yes that's right, I'm not choosing a side, although I belong to one of them, I won't even tell you which. The reason why is I believe that BOTH sides are equally guilty. |

My favorite Blue Stahli song by far. When I first heard this song I thought it was about enjoying drugs or something which didn't sit to well with me, but after a few listens to it I agree with iwnbts. Its definitely about trying to overcome addiction. |

This is by far my favorite Owl City song. I love how they all sound so cheesy, but I still can't stop listening to them. I also love how they can have a deep meaning if you really look into them or you can just take them as a simple happy song. |

I don't think Pendulum really cares about anything as far as religion. The lyrics hear say it all-just shut up and enjoy the music. |

Man this song brings back memories, the first time I heard it was when I was just about to lose my faith. I'm normally the strong guy who doesn't let out his emotions at all and by the end of this song I was almost crying. |

This song really speaks to me about what it was like when I finally came to see the real world. I grew up in a sheltered christian home, my dad was a pastor and my mom was a counseler. I became saved when I was 13, but even before that I was taught to be respectful and do the right thing. Then, as I got to know more of the kids in church, I was absolutely disgusted by how they acted. This song kinda hits how I felt then when I saw my friends as they really were. |

I doubt he knew the woman, he was just being nice and saying hello. However, I think the main focus of the song is not on the girl specifically, but on what the two of them had in common: the light of God. When I truly became born again people seemed to sense something different in me. He is showing how he is spreading the love of God without ever saying a word, but just by smiling. It also is showing joy in knowing that he is not the only real christian left in the world, because at times it really feels like that to me. |

This song always gets to me. How we are always afraid of whatever is coming in this world, but God will always be there watching over you. |

Alright I'm gonna take a shot at interpreting this. I'm gonna assume it has a christian meaning seeing as its falling up. I believe the general theme is losing your faith after a hard event and feeling like everyone is trying to break you down.
The first verse talks of how the event caught him off guard and he is lost. Then in the chorus he is trying to get away from it by pretending to be someone else "I'll close the door" means he is shutting out who he is, but by doing this he is turning his back on God. "But why half live" means that he realizes that he can't just run from his problems.
"The spies they hide and wait, You think I'm deaf to hear, My cameras everywhere." Means that he sees how other people may seem helpful, he feels like they want to break down his faith in God.
"Blinking lights, monitors survey the sides, Of my isolated world, Blinking lights, monitors survey the sides, Things keep changing" He is trying to stay away from his love for God because he doesn't know how to deal with the situations. He realizes that no matter how much you study, pray, and read the bible, there are some points where you just have to trust God. But he feels "Lost and Alone" because it seems as if the whole world is against him and "Things get stranger everywhere I go" because he is trying to rely on what people have told him about God than God himself.
The last part shows how he could slowly lose his faith without trusting God completely. He starts with "A life of love," but then has "A day of frost," where everything seemed to go wrong. His heart becomes cold to God and he losing a chance to do his will. He finds "Another cause" and forgets God and "A purpose is tossed." He loses God, his best friend and purpose of his life.
Just my take on the song.

| Celldweller – The Last Firstborn Lyrics

I think that this song is about the church's hypocrisy. "I see the darkness surround the shape on the ground the killer straight up and a body face down" could be a reference to how the church brings down anyone who is not like them.
"I wish it didn't end this way" means that he is the next person for the church to bring down.
"Listen my son - Firstborn last one The message you sent out to me I can't change what's meant to be" is God telling him that he's sorry that it had to be this way. In a way I think he is trying not to blame God for problems that the church created. |

I think its more about what the person watching it needs to help them say. He is trying to convince the person to stand up for themselves and stop destroying their lives. And on the topic of cussing, does it really effect the music? If atheists played a christian song is that song now atheist? If a non-believer stands up for christianity is he christian? Our actions don't define who we are. Everybody has problems in their life. I'm sure everybody here has thought about a guy/girl in bad ways. We need to start building people up, not breaking them down. |

| Haste the Day – Chorus of Angels Lyrics

To me it is about someone in the end times. He wants the end times to come and free him from the bad things in life. I also think that the lines "Chorus of angels, destroy my silence, That haunts me, It claims me, While darkness walks beside me." He may be talking about how he has done nothing to further God since he came to know Christ and finally wants to do something for God before it is to late. |

Haste the Day is a pretty good band, a little different style than Demon Hunter, but I like them. I think this is one of my favorite songs because it teaches something contrary to what most christians and churches say. A lot of times churches will tell you over and over how hard it is and you need a huge group of people to overcome the smallest of obstacles. While I do believe it is a good idea to have people help you in your life and fully support that way, I think churches kinda sell God short. Demon Hunter comes right out and says with God's strength we are invincible and can stand up to anything. |

I don't think he has slipped away from God, just christianity. He may very well be saved but just wants to help people out through music regardless if they are christian or not. I know after growing up in the Church and all it's hypocrisy sometimes I just want to leave Church and just try and leve for God. This song can be taken it many ways because it is so vague. I'm pretty sure he intended it to be that way. |

I think this song, and almost all of his songs, is meant to mean something different to everyone else. While for him it may refer to his conflict with christianity, I think he wants it to be whatever you want it to be. |
