I agree with overall sense of this opinion, but something just came to my ming after having read an article on how Gavin is bisexual is married to Gwen. She mentioned there that she realizes that even though they're married, his heart probably cant help but wander off from time to time. I dont know if this would imply having some sort of open relationship or just wishing he could be with a guy. It makes perfect sense to me how this song could easily be about Gavin, dedicating to a special man in his life, someone with whom it's kind of hard to be with since he's officially married to celebrity Gwen and they are in the eye of everyone. Maybe Gavin is stating just how hard it's been to be with that secret person and regardless of how hard it is, they love each other and "love remains the same". |

I agree with two people here, mainly. ReverendK´s point of view: I think that the song makes a great reference to drugs; "These conversations kill..." (conflicts in his head, no rest, good stuff vs bad stuff, should i or should i not drug myself) Time to take her home, her dizzy head is conscience laden (his mind is made up, he is satisfied and tranquil -conscience laden- with his decision..to smoke pot for relief) Time to take a ride that leaves today no conversation..."(tripping, being stoned, leaves his mind clear, no conflict anymore, just relaxation) - "Too much walkin', shoes worn thin Too much trippin' and my soul's worn thin" (thinking again about doing it or not, he knows he´s troubled and smoking is an easy way to be free, -stopping the walk- but he also knows he´s done it too much) Time to catch a ride it leaves today, her name is what it means (her name is what it means, meaning ride, you take a ride, you "take a trip") Ultimately, in the end, he has decided to continue doing it. He says that "conversations kill", which to me says that he will not pursue this battle in his head, he´s just gonna go for it and keep doing what gives him peace. The other point I share is The Fallen Angel´s way of seeing it: Maybe Scott thinks it´s been too long with all the tours and stuff, and the band is tired, and maybe even finds it pointless to go on, which is why it is now the BIG EMPTY, and at that point, their mind is set to have none of this anymore..just ready to stop it all, saying there is no space for debating on it -time to take a ride that leaves today, no conversation-. The song is full of reflections from them. I love it, Scott´s stuff is amazing, so much room for interpretation, it helps everyone in the way they wanna see it. Great lyrics. |
