Bruno Mars – Moonshine Lyrics 13 years ago
Again - I'm surprised there are no comments on this one either...this is another awesome song. I love the way Bruno explores different chord combinations on this album and it differs so much from Doo Waps & Hooligans....much darker....much better in my opinion, not so melancholy, more aggressive...
This song is self explanatory too. It is that person that you are not dating, but you meet up with, a favorite one night stand maybe....where you have the electricity in the physical relationship...this person who is your personal drug. Its a good song - definitely another album favorite.

I'm surprised there are no comments on this song - the chords, rhythm, and lyrics are all very cool the way they differentiate and still blend so well.
The lyrics themselves are pretty self explanatory - its the intense moment you lose yourself with that person....the chase, the catch, and so on. Very good song, The songs are always sung with so much passion and Bruno always sings with such a purity to his voice alone....one of my favorites from the album.

I have to say I am surprised no one has commented on this one yet. Its a great song. I think it is pretty easy to read - you see these people who have no talent making it big in Hollywood for one reason or another...you know you have the talent and are better and want it more...basically.

Shinedown – I Own You Lyrics 15 years ago
This like others on the album has to do with the mind in my opinion. This one is based on someone who has a ton of emotional baggage and is letting it overwhelm them. The first lines refer to coming and and taking a seat and how are you this week...sounds like its referring to a psychiatrist or therapist to me...

The song reminds me of using willpower and breaking through all of the crap that can weigh you down if you don't let it roll off your back and keep going. It can apply to soldiers too; from the "baggage" they are bringing back because of what happened in the war or it could apply to others with emotional problems caused by letting life get the best of them.

Instead of letting life get the best of you, he is saying get the best of life. Don't let it win, fight back and you will overcome it....at least that's my opinion.

Evanescence – Lithium Lyrics 15 years ago
I am changing my opinion on this song....

I think this song runs very close with Bipolar disorder - regardless of what it was meant to express from Amy..you have to be there to understand....NOW, with that said...

I do not believe that this song was written by Amy with any direct relation to Lithium or Bipolar disorder...the fact that it runs so close shows what a great musician can do and a great writer...but she wrote it because being afraid to be happy because sadness is all you know runs very close to bipolar fluctuations....when you are sad or numb, you cannot hurt anymore then you already are; however, if you are happy you are opening yourself up to the possibility of getting hurt and THAT is what the song was meant for...many many people are pessimistic about happiness and think if you are so far up with joy you have nowhere left to go but down...she wrote the chorus when she was 16 but the song came together after Shaun....

Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun Lyrics 15 years ago
I have to say its pretty cool that almost 20 years later this song is still being discussed...marks how great it really is in my opinion.

Anyway, the lyrics themselves may have been written by Chris with absolutely no meaning; however, I believe the song has plenty of meaning for each person who listens to it. The song is very open to interpretation because of how much variety the lyrics offer. I support the fact that Chris was able to take lyrics that have no relation to each other and create a great song from it...

Love the song personally!

I do not remember where I saw or heard it....but I remember this song being in a discussion or interview that I watched/listened to.

If I remember correctly, It is about her "getting off" on the crowd that is "getting off" on her. I saw them recently in concert as well. They feed off the energy from the crowd...I believe this song represents a mutual energy feeling for both...Child represents the younger side of the crowd; they have fans of all ages in the concert but the majority of the crowd is on the younger side because Halestorm appeals to that group....

Eminem – Love The Way You Lie (feat. Rihanna) Lyrics 15 years ago
I can completely understand the song, the violence in the song is because that situation I believe is close to an understanding and reality between both Eminem and Rihanna, one on one side of the situation and the other one on the other side, but it is in the past for both of them...a lesson they both had to learn...Eminem not to be the agressor and Rihanna not to be the victim.....but...many people are in or have been in this situation...the relationship where you both argue and fight on and off...some periods of time are great and calm while others are like World War III....with or without the violence....it happens to most....you just love each other so much that you deal through the war parts to hold on to the peaceful parts and the calm happy parts...I'm particularly fond of the "when a tornado meets a volcano.." line...
I think this is a fabulous healing song for both Eminem and Rihanna to work through their past. Fact is all people make mistakes...not that it is ever okay for violence!!! Great song though.

Rihanna – Russian Roulette Lyrics 15 years ago
This song was written by C. Harmon and S.Smith if I remember correctly - Not Rihanna, so as it was said above, there is no personal relation to Rihanna and her particular situations...

I do think this song has to do with a little of everything and it can be interpreted in MANY different ways depending on who is trying to interpret it; that is what makes a good song, when it can be something to many different people in many different situations.

This song in my opinion has something to do with "getting back on the horse again". For example, someone who is seeing they are falling in love with someone and the last relationship they were in was horrible and/or ended very badly for whatever reasons. They are scared at that point because it is very much like playing russian roulette with their own heart. They know they cannot stop now because they have already started to fall in love so the "ball is rolling" and they are "lined up" to take the "jump" or "pull the trigger" and go ahead and try to get into another relationship.
Can be very scary for those who are overcoming some form of betrayal, abuse, or even heartbreak....it is very much like a game of russian roulette "getting back into the game" not knowing the outcome even if the other person is trying to calm you and explain "they won't hurt you" or something like that.

That is my opinion at least.

Halestorm – Familiar Taste of Poison Lyrics 16 years ago
This song reminds me of lust and obsession. Lzzy is singing with an amazing amount of emotion in this song.
The lust is too strong but she knows that the feelings are not mutual. They broke up and went there seperate ways...but no matter what she cannot forget the euphoria she felt in the relationship...almost like a first real crush for a teenager but stronger...the end of the song is when she finally gives into it and stops fighting the battle that is inside between feeling and logic. Lzzy gives into emotion and decides that she wants anything and everything memory wise and feeling wise. She would rather abandon all reality and live in the dreamworld she once felt....
The song can also represent fans and feeling towards fans.....poison, the addiction of playing on stage....familiar, Lzzy has been doing this for a large portion of her life so she knows what it feels like and it is familiar..."familiar taste of poison"..she is well used to the addiction of playing on stage and the energy she feels from the crowd.....when fans send gifts or letters oor flowers it distracts Lzzy from song writing " drains her inspiration"...

At the end she doesn't care...she is too wrapped up in the whole picture of stage, fans, performing....she gives in and wants to keep going/.....

Sick Puppies – White Balloons Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song could be interpreted in many ways -
what I think it means? The song is about trying to progress after the loss of your one true love to death...he is trying to move on...he is having problems trying to progress and everyone knows after the loss of a loved one your emotions go from up to down and back again......at least that is my theory...

I am in total agreement with creator 1456 - this song has great melodic progression with proper building of sound. There is also a perfect balance between highs and lows - Emma and Shimon - couldn't have said it any better myself....

RedsoxQT nailed it...I have been there too and it is all very true....

I do not think I have ever come across a song that correctly described the feelings of bipolar and the fear of the medication before quite like this one does.

It is a constant battle to look into a mirror and not know yourself anymore because you are hollow from the medication and all feeling and emotion has been numbed....then to feel so much that you go from flying to falling...

But this song has meaning to all who listen to it and there is no wrong interpretation...this song can be shown as representing the fear of trying for happiness because everytime it gets good you get hurt....

If the interpretation works for you than I say great that is all that matters.

Chris Cornell – Scream Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree with anabelle3982. This song is about a problem in relationships where one person has a problem with communication. Instead of talking things out they yell about everything.

"Doesn't matter what I've done
Or if I even crossed the line"

Pretty soon the screaming becomes normal and the fighting is always no matter what has been done. This is a situation where there is either angered silence or there is a screaming match. There is no in between. the one getting screamed at does not understand why it is like that but knows eventually they are going to snap because they cannot handle it much more.

"Silence is golden
I used to think that silence was golden"

this basically means that the angered silence is no better then the screaming. There is no in between and they know it.

I particularly love this line:
"I say hey, why you keep screaming at the top of your head?(hey i hear)"

The sarcastic humor in "hey I hear" LOL as if to say my ears work just fine just quit screaming. Or at least that is my thoughts. Anyone else??
