I ADORE this song. it is so true! we avoid all the issues and topics and we force everyone to keep secrets and build up walls, and then when the secrets are revealed we act like we never knew...because we didnt... because we didnt take the time to. and if we had, we could have solved it. but we didnt. we just close our eyes. I love this line, as well... "God you've gotta save us, we hide behind the faces that we make to disguise the things that we're ashamed of" we do, we mask all our own problems and issues and the things we regret and wish we hadnt done and that make us ashamaed, and we disguise these things and just try to avoid the issues. we close our eyes to the topics. but, why do we close our eyes? that's what they're asking...why do we? and i guess its just easier to close our eyes then to have to deal with everything. but, like they're saying here, avoiding the topics just cause more problems. |

| I agree with this being a whole parody for the rap industry and such, but when I first listened to it I thought it had a different meaning. They're talking all about being on the top of the world, pretty much, and how they used to be one the sand but now they're finally on the boat. I think it's kind of talking about being rich and famous and how they used to be one of the "little people" and are now living the big life. Just my interpretation, though. | |

| Just because you can place your religious views into everything doesn't mean they're actually there. Sure, you can take LOTS of things religiously. Just like you can take anything and make it dirty. That doesn't mean it really is. This song is most definetly NOT about finding God. If it were - well, it would be the most hypocritical outreach song out there, or at least one of them. Seriously - what kind of church do you go to for you to think this is acceptable? | |

This is hillarious. Since when do people proclaimming "the gospel" go around cussing and swearing and talking about fucking mermaids ... ? No. They are not talking about their faith being firmly planted. They are not talking about faith at all. Humour me: why would people use a multitude of cuss words and such to tell people about how beautiful and wonderful and morally pure God is? And no. Because if you'd talk to any christian (because you obviously aren't one) you'd know that being on the 'christian boat' isn't fun nor easy as the boat on this song is. If anything, this song is saying a big "fuck you" to the church rather than the opposite. I think this song is talking about having reached the top - they're famous, flying high, and can do whatever they want. They're finally "on the boat" - but we're still stuck on the sand. Now, my interpretation may be wrong, but I definetly know this is not religious propaganda. Anyways, props to you for that post. It was pretty hillarious. Comparing this song to finding God? Fucking brilliant. It sure got a laugh from me. |
