Iwrestledabearonce – See You in Shell Lyrics 15 years ago
im pretty sure this song is speaking about a father who goes off to suddenly start a new relationship with someone else or at least that sort of sittuation is hinted at through the lyrics. its possible that Krysta (who presumably writes the lyrics) has had something like this happen to her or someone she knows or maybe she was reminded of it by an ex who cheated on her idk... im just throwing out ideas...

Horse the Band – A Million Exploding Suns Lyrics 15 years ago
first of all i want to say that this is some of the most intelligent discussion of modern music that i have EVER seen and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside; people DO care about lyrics and meaning in songs !!!!!!!! secondly i think that you guys are all capturing one aspect of the meaning and trying to relegate it to only being about that one thing. Considering that a lot of the songs from H the B are about Nathans personal problems including his inner struggles i would say that even though this song is obviously about the marvel character it is also probably about how Nathan relates to that character (wether that be because hew himself has schizophrenia or just simply because he can relate to a character who has problems in general)

Alexisonfire – Young Cardinals Lyrics 16 years ago
mcnoe1 has the correct lyrics and I have been able to piece together what i think the song means based on them

the song is all about the loss of innocence that happens when you grow up and the longing that many people have for a simpler life. Even as they beg the young innocent cardinals (who worry about none of the tings that are mentioned in the song (ill get to that in a sec)) to show us a taste of their ignorant bliss they are also indirectly (but intentionally) explaining to everyone the beauty in the world around us and all the things our world has to offer.

Each verse starts out with a reference to renewal and the cycle of life that drives the world as well as a reminder that there are things that most people aren't even concerned with happening all around us and then the middle is filled with the many things that we as human adults have to think and be concerned with.

~Strange things happening in the nighttime is not a reference to the night itself but instead a metaphor for anything that we don't normally thing about or look at.
~Buds turning to flowers represents the coming of age that happens to everyone and inaugurates this theme in the song
~science and logic minded people (those who speak numbers) refuse to acknowledge a higher power
~And then at the same time there are powerful people who still tremble in fear of their various gods but aren’t afraid to act like gods themselves
~Then there are the silly traditions and superstitions that so many people legitimately still worry about (like knocking on wood or the number 13)
~all the while there are scientists who are on the brink of figuring out some of the most important and fundamental discoveries in history
~but at the end of the day the world keeps turning and spinning around the sun turning day into night and back again

I think you get the point but in case you need more proof: the second verse is talking about a few other various problems that happen in the world like the god of the sea part referencing global climate change and what it is doing to our oceans or the bones of tyrants stoking our fires which is talking about war.

~~~~~~~~~~after doing this interpretation i regained my absolute adoration for this band, they may not sound the same as they did before (which didnt bother me but i had forgotten why i loved them) but they still have the absolute best lyrics of anyone ive ever listened to!
