Oh, and this line: Can't you tell that this is all just a contest? The one that wins will be the one that hits the hardest I belive is about their fighting. Or, it's at least what I can relate to. When me and my husband fight, it does end up being a content. Whoever gets the last word/hit in is the "one who wins." Just my opinion, it's how I relate to the song. I don't believe this song is meant to be taken sarcastically at all. Pink is obviously heartbroken over her and her husband not being together. |

When I first heard this song, it definitely hit home. Me and my husband are both verbally and physically abusive to each other at times, but would rather die than be with anyone else. Just like the lyric, "How did I become so obnoxious? What is it with you that makes me act like this?" I had never known this side of myself until I met him (my husband). The line, "I always say how I don't need you, but it's always gonna come right back to this" is something I always say to my husband and at the time, I really mean it. But after the mad feelings have went away, my love for him is still there. The song is basically about how no matter how mean she can be to him or him to her, or how much they fight, at the end of the day, she still loves him and wants to be together. |
