Chris Brown – Look at Me Now Lyrics 14 years ago
some small corrections in Lil' Wayne and Busta's verese:

I don't see how you can hate from outside of the club
You can't even get in!
Ha... LEGGO

Yellow model chick, yellow bottle sippin'
Yellow Lamborghini, yellow top missin'
Yeah yeah, that shit look like a toupee
I get what you get in ten years in two days
Ladies love me, I'm on my Cool J
If you get what I get, what would you say?
She wax it all off, Mr. Miyagi
And them suicide doors, Hari Kari

Look at me now
Look at me now
Oh
I'm gettin' paper
Look at me now (OH)
Look at me now (YEAH)
Fresher than a muh-fuck

Lil' nigga bigger than gorilla
'Cause I'm killin' every nigga that can try to be on my shit
Better cuff your chick
If you with her, I can get her
And she accidentally slipped and fell on my dick
Oops, I said on my dick
I didn't really mean to say on my dick
But since we talking about my dick
All of you haters say hi to it
I'm done

(BUSTA)
L Breezy!
Lemme show you how to keep the dice rollin' when you doin' that thing over there, homie
LESSS GO!

'Cause I feelin' like I'm runnin'
And I'm feelin' like I gotta get away, get away, get away
Better know that I don't and I won't ever stop
'Cause you know I gotta win every day, day (GO)
See they don't really wanna pop me
Just know that you will never flop me
And I know that I can be a little cocky (NO)
You ain't never gonna stop me
Every time I come, a nigga gotta set it then I gotta go in and I gotta get it
Then I gotta blow it and I gotta shudder any little thing the nigga think he be doin'
'Cause it doesn't matter 'cause I'm gonna da-da-da-da-da
Then I'm gonna murder everything and anything, a-bada boom, a-bada bing
I gotta do a lot of things, and make it clearer to a couple niggas
That I'm always winning and I gotta get it again and again and again
And I be doin' it to death, and now I move a little foul
A nigga better call a ref, and everybody know my style
And niggas know that I'm the best when it come to doin' this
And I be bangin' on my chest, and I bang in the East
And I bang in the West, and I come to give you more
And I will never give you less, you will hear it in the street
And you can read it in the press, do you really wanna know what's next? (Less go)
See, the way we on, we be all up in the race
And you know we gotta go, don't try to keep up with the pace
And we strugglin' and hustlin' and sendin' in and gettin' in
And we always gotta do it, take it to another place
I gotta taste it, and I gotta grab it
And I gotta cut through all this traffic
Just to be at the top of the throne, better know I gotta have it (have it)

Look at me now
Look at me now
Oh
I'm gettin' paper
Look at me now (OH)
Look at me now (YEAH)
Fresher than a muh-fuck

(WEEZY)
Man, fuck these bitch-ass niggas
How y'all doin'? I'm Lil Tunechi
I'm a nuisance, I go stupid
I go dumb like the Three Stooges
I don't eat sushi, I'm the shit
No, I'm pollution, no substitution
Got a bitch that playin’ movies
And my jacuzzi pussy juicy, I
Never give a fuck about a hater
Got money on my radar
Dressed like a skater
Got a big house, came with an elevator
You niggas ain't eatin', fuckin' tell a waiter
Marley said shoot 'em and I said OK
If you on that bullshit, then I'm like OLE
I don't care what you say
So don't even speak
Your girlfriend a freak like Cirque du Soleil
That's word to my flag
And my flag red
I'm outta my head, bitch, I'm outta my mind
From the bottom I climb
You ain't hotter than mine
Nope, not on my time
And I'm not even tryin'
what's poppin' Slime?
Nothin', Five
And if they trippin', fuck them five
I ain't got no time to shuck and jive
These niggas is sweet as pumpkin pie
Ciroc and Sprite on a private flight
Bitch, I've been tight since guiding light
And my pockets white and my diamonds white
And my momma's nice and my daddy's dead
You faggots scared 'cause I'm too wild
Been here for a while, I was like FUCK TRIAL
I puts it down, I'm so Young Money
If you got eyes, look at me now, bitch!

Look at me now
Look at me now
Oh
I'm gettin' paper
Look at me now (OH)

OK
OK
Is that right?

Macy Gray – I Try Lyrics 15 years ago
Wow ok to me this song is clearly not about a breakup, It's about being a pussy with a guy or girl you really really like but are only kinda decent friends with. Lyrically, it's closer to Taylor Swift's Teardrops on My Guitar than Mariah Carey's Always Be My Baby.

There is absolutely nothing in this song that suggests the singer and the guy she's singing to were ever together.

No, this song is about hiding your feelings for someone, and how frustrating it is dealing with it. I can definitely relate.

haha you really hear "loui belt, slug her"? Not "louisville slugger" like the baseball bat?
also is it "alcohol heat room" or "alcohol hero"? What's a heat room? Is that some slang term I'm not familiar with?
Also you don't have to misspell "couple," he pronounces it normally.

Nicki Minaj – Check It Out Lyrics 15 years ago
the basic meaning of the song is "look at us we're so awesome, we're better than everyone else" seems to be a popular theme among hip-hop artists nowadays. Its kinda catchy (I think) and "check it out" is like check us out, we're the best

The Ready Set – Love Like Woe Lyrics 15 years ago
What a killer song. Really catchy and some very clever lyrics.

The main double entendre (double meaning) of the song: "love like woe" means that her love is both like "whoa," as in its impressive somehow, like she's attractive, or comes on really hard and fast to whatever guy she's interested in. But it also means that the love is like "woe," as in sadness, because that's what it causes because she moves on from people really quickly. Thus she's like a hurricane, speed train, moving car, she quickly moves on from guy to guy.

The rest of it isn't that hard to understand. The guy really likes the girl no matter what, she's the only one for him, the only one who can "make a storm cloud break, pullin' out the sun." He really wants her to like him, and she did, she brought him in, but then she moved on, and "kicked [him] out again." He wonders how he can get her to keep liking him, but it doesn't really work.

All Time Low – Running from Lions Lyrics 15 years ago
I think that "running from lions" is an expression where lions are a metaphor for something scary and dangerous. Running is what one would naturally do when confronted with a lion, something scary and dangerous. This makes sense in the context of the whole line, "Running from lions never felt like such a mistake," because normally running from lions would be a normal idea, what would be expected. But for whatever reason, the singer feels like running from this dangerous and scary problem would be a terrible idea. But what situation would that be?

Well in some ways that's left to the listener, who can project that idea of not running from lions into his or her own life.

The first two stanzas talk about how the singer used poor judgment (built houses out of matchsticks), and naturally he caused a big problem. "For every fire that breaks out in every lover's name"suggests he messed up a relationship, but that might not be the best reading of these lyrics (I'm not sure what is).

I can't make much sense of the the next stanza after the chorus, but maybe black ink bleeding through means something about how his past mistake still comes back to haunt him.

The chorus is a little confusing. The singer says that he still has unfinished business with whatever his problem was, that he hasn't solved it yet. He regrets "not knowing when to put an end to all this madness." So the singer wants to confront his giant scary problem, the lion, even though he knows it'll be hard for him, because he realizes what a giant mess he made (of something). The "keeps me wanting more" lyric is the most confusing, as it could suggest that the singer is conflicted, and that he has this internal desire for whatever caused the giant mess, and that he doesn't want to fix the problem because part of him enjoys watching the giant mess remain unsolved.

In any case, the main thing to take out of this song is to stand up to your fears, don't run from lions.

Daughtry – Every Time You Turn Around Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song is the most underrated on the album, its short on lyrics but long on "catchy." I think its about a relationship where the singer (a guy obviously) is trying to be this dependable guy and get the girl to trust him but she for whatever reason doesn't trust him.

The "take it on back down the other road" lyric to me is confusing. I think it might mean drugs, as in he used to do drugs but no longer does and she still doesn't trust him not to go back. Or it could mean that he used to be with some other girl or cheated on her once and she doesn't trust him to stay w/ her.

However, she is not completely innocent in this relationship because he says for her "don't you forget that you're forgiven." So maybe she cheated too? I don't know but the point is that she feels insecure about the relationship and he's trying to get her to feel secure about it.

B.o.B – Magic (feat. Rivers Cuomo) Lyrics 15 years ago
No Way! No comments on this song??? This song is really catchy, i'm suprised that more people don't like it. Might not have staying power, but in any case some great verses, really classic b.o.b. lyrics. He is one of the only rappers in my opinion that successfully pulls off the sicing himself while still sounding good. He can make some killer references in his verses, but it all flows really well, unlike some less talented (in my opinion) rappers. He is nearing Eminem in that regard I agree that he does in fact have the magic in him.

Also note the starting off with the chorus, not something you see very often, I like!

The Script – Breakeven Lyrics 15 years ago
Love the double meaning in the "break even" lyric; the fact that his heart was left in a "smaller piece," in other words her heart is still whole and his is broken, and the fact that he didn't "break even" in the relationship, normally the term is used in a monetary sense, but here he feels like he's emotionally worse off than when he started, which is interesting because he certainly seems to have learned that he needs to treat women better in relationships (She finally met a man that's gonna put her first).

Also very catchy, but any song that has a chorus with that good a double meaning and is catchy gets a thumbs up from me.

Cobra Starship – Good Girls Go Bad Lyrics 16 years ago
I like this song. And it actually has sort of interesting lyrics. Well, not that interesting, but the music video is very interesting. So if you haven't seen it, in the music video, there's this guy who owns a club in the back on his... i think its a deli. In any case, some people come in, they party, gamble, and it seems to sort of make sense cause the girl looks sorta shy with her friends and stuff but then at the end it turns out the girls were undercover cops and they bust all the guys for something, drugs, illegal gambling, or something. In any case, i think this is Cobra's ironic take on their own song or something, because it doesn't fit the straightforward lyrics. No, the only lyric in the song that gives me some trouble is "she got a way with the guys in the place treat 'em like they don't stand a chance. At first this would suggest to me that the girl has confidence but this clearly isn't the case because she's "so shy" unless of course they're undercover cops but still that dosen't add up. No, i think what they mean there is that she is the type that hangs with her friends and doesn't give guys a chance to date her, and "treat them like they don't stand a chance" because she won't dance with them, or kiss them, or do anything with them because she's conservative and such, not because she's overconfident.

In any case the line about the 5 best friends seems to me just to be their way of discribing what type of girl the girl in the song is, she's the kind that stands in the corner, with her friends, talking, rather than dancing or talking to guys.

I just think its funny that their song seems very pro badboy/pimpster, after all that's who's singing it and what it's about, but their music video seems anti that type to me because they get busted.

Ok i'm sorry but this is really bugging me. Do you have no morals? This is how you want to earn money? By tricking other people into giving you money? That is on the same level as begging on the street just because you are too lazy to work, except slightly less humiliating. Its blatent trickery, far worse than even the coldest lawyers. that is possibly the largest piece of chain mail spamming i've ever seen. I do not have the optimism that you do that people all over the world will ship money off to places because some person on the internet tells them to. It sounds so great huh? If only 15,000 people sent me $1 bills i'd be rich too! That's the plot huh? I will spam people and 15,000 of them will send me letters with $1 bills in them. This is also a tremendous waste of paper. i feel like you should be sued by a save the planet group. Oh, and of course the postal service would be ok with it, in theory (not in reality) they'd be making so much money with all these international letters. Also i'm pretty sure it costs a decent amount of money to ship stuff to australia from the U.S. So more than $6...

yeah this one's a radio hit. I mean, how can you not understand it? It was written by someone who probably hasn't finished sophomore year of high school. Linkin Park – Breaking The Habit Lyrics 16 years ago
yeah i mean this song is meant to be relateable to different people in different ways. really really great song. Maybe my favorite linkin park song. I disagree with most and think meteora is as good as hybrid theory. The music video (animated) for this song is great. Looking at the lyrics, i would look at the last verse (well, i guess its a verse) in any case, the last stanza where chester is almost screaming. That's where the change (breaking the habit) occurs. In particular i would look at "i'll never fight again". Does this mean that he'll never fight the habit again because this time he'll break it and be done with it or because the habit has something to do with fighting? I don't know but I think that stanza is key in understanding the song. It's the "climax" as you will, in the story that is the song.

Linkin Park – New Divide Lyrics 16 years ago
Right, ok, so this song has to be about the movie, but lets take a look at it from another point of view huh? There are 2 overall meanings that i've looked at so far. 1 is a soldier fighting in a war, like the first post said, who no longer believes in the war he's fighting. There are clearly 2 figures in this song, The singer and another person, his friend. So in the war interpretation, his friend/comrade has been telling him not to question, and that the war's justified, which is why "that i get why i deserve" when something bad happens to the soldier because he's not fighting like a soldier, maybe being too humaitarian towards civilians, or simply not fighting and getting captured. The whole song's about trying to find meaning in the war but he can't. The lies are what the government is saying to justify the war etc.
You could also look at it from a boy/girl relationship point of view. In this way, there's a "divide" between the guy and girl, and the storm is a metaphor for how their relationship is deteriorating, and "that i get what i deserve" is like losing her (or the relationship being worse) because he was being an asshole. It could be the girl too, its just that traditionally its the guy who has the power and gets dumped for being an asshole not the girl.

Fair point, i sortof agree with you to a point. Sum 41 gets all their inspiration and sound ideas for their genre of music from Blink. They are a really similar band, like, about as similar as 2 bands will ever get. I love them for it. It's like two times as many Blink songs! Yay! No but Blink 182 was a real pioneer in the pop-punk genre and Sum 41 is following in their footsteps. I think? for all i know Sum 41 came first but i dont think so. They have even followed the same career pattern w/ a really crazy no-cares early album (All Killer No Filler) Followed by an equally popular album of more serious songs (Underclass Hero).

Sum 41 – Walking Disaster Lyrics 16 years ago
ok the line about "mom and dad both in denial, only (blank) to take the blame" is really important and you guys probably have it wrong. I saw another website say "jump" to take the blame, to me that implies that the kid committed suicide and now he's talking from heaven, which would totally change the song, but it would be interesting. It would make the "as i fall" line be literal but again, i dont think this is the case because that line is present tense, and if he'd committed suicide it would have been in the past so his parents were blaming lots of stuff on it. This song is similar to Blink's "Adam's Song" in theme and the way it starts really negative, but at the end there's a verse/chorus that's the same but changed a little to make it positive and end on a good note, to show they don't really hate their parents looking way back once they're much older. Great song.

Sum 41 – In Too Deep Lyrics 16 years ago
wawawa. Who cares what genre it is, its the same genre as blink-182. They have their own genre that includes bands like yellowcard, sum 41, simple plan, etc. Right so this song is sorta interesting, their relationship is described as "in too deep", but the tone implies that they both want the relationship. I wonder what "going under" is? Is it totally losing your head over the other person? I think so, because of "again" it seems like he's done this a number of times before, and he wants to keep "up above in my head" as in, he wants to still think normally, and have control over himself.

Fall Out Boy – Dance, Dance Lyrics 16 years ago
This is possibly the most interesting song lyrically that i've ever heard. It just goes to show that there are 16 pages worth of posts on this song.
Well i would say some lyrical differences in some versions people have posted are very important. In my opinion this song is about a guy who's girlfriend (of at least some time, but not too long) was cheating on him. I say girlfriend on some time but not too long because the context of the opening stanza makes the most sense in that context.

Now as for why i say the girl has been cheating on him: for starters, the guy is clearly not a happy guy at this point, his life is "it can't be much worse" vs. "no one should ever feel like" which are too pretty bad things that might come emotionally from finding out that his girlfriend cheated on him. I believe this right here is the most difficult, interesting and crucial stanza:
"You always fold just
Before you're found out
Drink up, it's last call, last resort
But only the first mistake"
The being found out part leads me to believe that she was cheating, and right when he was about to find out, she dumped him. This move is a "last resort" because its actually a desperate move for her (I'll get to that later) and "only the first mistake" at least in his mind, because he loves her so much that he's forgiven her for everything she's done before this.

Now why is this move a "last call" or "last resort." One has to look at her motives for being in this relationship with him in the first place if she loved another guy for a while. This might lead one to believe that they're married, but i think this unlikely because of the first stanza and the fact that this seems to be a sort of almost regular thing for her (you "always" fold just..), and if they were married it would be a first. Now the reason she's probably in a relationship with him is for his money. He probably has a lot of it and ideally she'd like to marry him but have affairs with other guys, and still take his money. i know this is sort of a stretch, and there isn't really any evidence in the song for it, but that's my best explanation for this part of the song.

To reiterate my last point, "these are the lives (plural, VERY key) you'd love to lead" she would like to live this double life of cheating on this guy, but now that he almost found out and she dumped him, she can't. (So SAD!) Also, the part about showing spine "you've been saving for his mattress" again show that she's cheating on him.

The guy clearly loves her, as he's forgiven her for lots of stuff before (everything in fact) and does in fact want sympathy in the form of her having sex with him. He doesn't want to forget how her voice sounds, and he needs these words he's written about her just to get by. Her cheating has demeaned his love for her somewhat, but he was so attached to her he still needs her voice and her memory just to get by. Again, he still finds her physically very attractive and would love to have sex with her.

The last thing to explain is all this "Dance, Dance" stuff, after all, that is the name of the song!
The guy says that he's "two quarters and a heart down" because a) a heart down obviously cause he's brokenhearted and b) 2 quarters down because he just spent them on a jukebox, which is his sort of way of coping with what's just happened. This particular jukebox probably has some emotional significance to him because he probably spent some time there with her, and he's remembering how she used to dance to it, and now he's sitting there, wishing she were still there, dancing to it. He's transfixed by this idea, and that's why he repeats these lines over and over again.

This guy has had a really rough time, and Fall Out Boy does a great job of embedding a really great story in a very catchy song. They tend to do this sort of thing a lot which is why i like them so much.

i would say this song is about, well, her (stripper/pole dancer at a club) who this guy really likes, he especially likes it when she goes "down" which could mean a couple of things, down on the pole, down when she's dancing with him, or down to blow him. In any case, there isn't much to it, it just has a great beat/flow so that's why everyone likes it so much.

Beyoncé – Halo Lyrics 16 years ago
Well this song is pretty much about how the speaker used to be very cautious about getting in a relationship, presumably because they had had many bad ones before, but then they found this one person (their halo) and they tore down all of her "protective barriers" for relationships, and she's sort of taking a risk because this person breaks all of her "rules" about what to look for in a guy, but she loves him so much she doesn't care. Its great.

The Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow Lyrics 16 years ago
I think jenfrreva has pretty much nailed this one:
The song's a shot at other modern groups / artists, they're saying that other groups (like Lady Gaga) and "jackin [their] style" but they're so much better than them, they're 1008 years more modern than those other "chickens"
I also agree that fergie takes the biggest shot here, and i gotta admit, she's much more talented than Lady Gaga, so props to her...
Clearly the "boom boom pow" refers to the fact that THIS song is being played all over the radio, they're actually anticipating the fact that this song is gonna be a huge hit, Pretty impressive. This idea is actually very similar to Shakespeare's sonnet 55 which talks about how his mistress's memory will be carried on in his poem (which it was).
In any case, great song, great beat, the black eyed peas are a really special group with a great mix of talents that were successful as a group and a solo artists.

Pink – Sober Lyrics 16 years ago
Obviously people will have different interpretations of this song, there isn't really a "right" or "wrong" but this is my take:
To me this song is about a person (the speaker; maybe not the singer) who used to be a total whore and got drunk a lot. They were used to getting drunk and then having sex with someone, and feeling all the pain that comes with a massive hangover the next morning:
"The sun is blinding
I stayed up again
I am finding
That's not the way I want my story to end "
But they really didn't want to be this kind of person, not just because of the pain of the hangover, but because of all the negative social pressure that whores feel:
"I don't wanna be the girl who laughs the loudest
Or the girl who never wants to be alone
I don't wanna be that call at 4 o'clock in the morning
'Cos I'm the only one you know in the world that won't be home"
So then the speaker finally gets a real relationship with someone they really like. This person doesn't like drinking, and won't let the speaker drink:
"You're like protection"
And then the chorus is about when they finally had sex sober (a first for the speaker) and she's talking about how good it feels, and she can't believe it, but she's even more happy about it because she knows that she's "safe up high" morally and in the sense that there won't be a painful hangover later. She really likes her new boyfriend, they're "like perfection" and their relationship of not drinking because there's "no pain, inside" moral pain, that is, that was there because she knew what she was doing before, getting drunk all the time was bad.
Now the one tricky line here is:
"Why do i feel this party's over?"
My best explanation for this line is that she feels a little strange about the whole not drinking thing, because she's so rationally conscious of her situation that she actually realizes that they're done having sex now, which is wierd for her because before she just was so drunk she wasn't actively thinking about stuff like that. But even though this feeling of conciousness, actually a somewhat negative feeling, (i mean, getting drunk is fun because you don't have any worries because you aren't concious of so many things) but all in all she likes the whole situation much more than he previous one.

Just my 2 cents.
