Queen – Under Pressure Lyrics 14 years ago
I love that people get very different interpretations of this song, and can argue each point convincingly.

I like dizzypru's explanation of it being about homosexuality, but machinebacon's is also good. Guess it depends on wahat you want it to mean.

I just watched a show about credit card debt that used this song really effectively, with the pressure forced on people by credit card companies and the pressure of the debt. The people on the edge, then, would be people who go so deeply into debt that they want to die just to get out of it. Not a perfect interpretation, but I found it interesting.

The movie's called "Maxed Out", btw.

Yoko Kanno – COSMIC DARE (Pretty With A Pistol) Lyrics 14 years ago
Not sure about this one. It's a mix between the distance between the lovers and the intimacy of their feelings for each other. There are endless possibilities in the universe, maybe trying to drive them apart, but she clings to her one love. Kind of like Spike, in a way.

Kind of surprising to analyse the lyrics, since at first I could only hear the poppy beat and only kind of liked the song.

Yoko Kanno – Aqua Lyrics 14 years ago
Beautiful song. The words are in a made-up language, like a lot of Kanno's stuff is. But that's because it's all about the emotion the sounds bring.

I think this one feels like a powerful spiritual revelation.

I agree. the message is very simple and sincere, and that's why I love it. In fact, I love that whole album.

I love this song, and have for a long time, ever since I first listened to the version with Sarah Brightman. I could be mistaken, but I think this is what's happening in this song.
Christine still hasn't moved on since her father's passing, even though she knows she should. She longs for a more innocent time, when she could look to her father for strength and guidance. This is why it is so easy for The Phantom to manipulate her.

I agree with foxie. It's about wanting to end a relationship on good terms so that you can look back on it fondly.

Andrew Lloyd Webber – Pilate's Dream Lyrics 15 years ago
I love this song. My Dad sometimes sings and plays this song on the guitar. He's always wanted to play the part of Pilate in JC Superstar, but when the local theatre group did it he had hurt his back and couldn't take the part. Makes me sad :-(

Yeah, still love this song. It really helps you see Judas in a sympathetic light.

Linda Ronstadt – Hasten Down The Wind Lyrics 15 years ago
It sounds like a woman torn between her love for her man and her love for freedom. Maybe she thought that being with a man she loves would be enough to make her happy, but it isn't. She wants more independance, but she doesn't want to leave him.

He's having a hard time accepting that he can never claim all of her heart, and would rather have her decide: all or nothing.

Linda Ronstadt – Someone To Lay Down Beside Me Lyrics 15 years ago
Wow, can't believe no one's commented on this song. It's originaly written by Karla Bonhoff. Very haunting.

I think this one's about looking for love but settling for meaningless one-night stands to make you forget about your loneliness.
