I love this song because it's so untouched. It's a real, unadulterated Breaking Benjamin song. Whenever it comes on, I just smile. I can't help it. To me, it's about having walked away from something but still being able to come back to it. In the mix, there's anger "you hate me? take me." and confusion "you need me? keep me. leave me haunted by what i burned down." in that one line, he says "keep me," followed by "leave me," showing that things may keep going back and forth. I feel like everyone likes to equate BB's songs to drugs or relationships, but I feel like this one could have been just based on a friendship that was falling apart. He just didn't care enough to repair it, which lead to a chaotic, semi-destroyed friendship And that's the point where the song is written. He ends by saying he hasn't ruined it all yet, knows he very well could, but also doesn't know what to do in general, with the line "what more could I do, to you, to lose the things that I haven't yet?" I just love this song so much. It's interesting. It's pure. But that's just my two cents ^_^ |

the first time I heard this song I was sitting in the back seat of a car, on the way to who knows where, blissfully unaware of everything aournd me and ahead of me... but I fell in love... the entire mood of this song, the music, the lyrics, Ben's voice...it all just made sense to me, for those few minutes everything made sense to me, and I had no clue why. then I met him, years later. the first day of my sophomore year, I had this song stuck in my head, and it was then that I met him, and everything came together. to me, this song is about being in love with someone, but just wishing you could "Forget It" and go on living your life as you did before you met that person. "It's a crime" that you love them, but nothing can alter how you feel, and they are the only one you want, and you just cannot have them, no matter what...but...maybe you can one day. so you remain hopeful, "holding breath you can breathe," until you are together. until then, seeing them...seeing him...is torture. because we're both alone, but cannot be together. and seeing them makes you happy and sad, and "I can live forever here" is stating what will happen..saying I'll live in the balance, "caught in your way," and I can, as long as it takes. still, in the meantime, it would be amazing if the memories could be wiped away, if I could start over, never meet him... Because he's so much like me, he is "the part of me that I don't wanna see," but as I said before, "I can live forever here..." but this is only my life, and how the song makes me feel...it's different for everyone =] me |

Okay...so first of all I adore this band...! Second, I see this song as being about someone who lived their life the way they wanted to and it was different than people wanted him to live, so instead of being accepted and considered "normal" and whatnot, they've been judged and looked down upon for no reason other than his being different from other people, simply put. Basically, people need to accept other people for who they are and not bother to judge them or change them. Or "save" them. Really, the world will stay in one piece, even if we don't all conform to what's considered "normal." Some people need to chill... Just my thoughts tho... =] me |

okay...this is one of my favorite songs from my favorite band. and this is my interpretation... so someone is in some sort of relationship with someone else and it's been going on for a long time. both people in this relationship want it to end, but they can never end it, but they really want to, but they just can't, and the feelings keep coming in waves...the lines "Well I know you don't know the reason, And it's cold, a sign of the season" and "Well it's gone and it's not returning, And your clothes and pictures are burning" show how they really don't have anything left for each other, but when he says "I couldn't imagine anyone else," it's like they don't want anyone but each other. Hence, they're stuck not wanting to be together and not being able to be apart. but that's only what i took from it, agree or disagree as you wish :) |
