Bruce Springsteen – Take 'Em As They Come Lyrics | 14 years ago |
How has no one commented on this? This was the one that really caught my attention off Tracks, the great music plus the story that really draws you in. I can listen to this over and over again, just wondering who the Rider in the black night is, and what happened to the narrator and his girlfriend that they're running down a pitch black road. Someone has done something horrible to either the narrator and his girl, or just to his girlfriend. She's in terrible distress, and he's trying to comfort her. I feel that the meaning here is simply that he's going to do everything he can to protect her. As it says, If i could take all your sorrow---that's what i'd do for you (I think it's act. little one). You can't run away from what's troubling you, you have to take them as they come, just deal with them. The narrator is willing to do anything to protect and heal this person that I think he loves. The last line is one of the greatest lines not that i've heard just from Bruce, but anywhwere for what it means: I swear I'll take em baby when they come |
Bruce Springsteen – What Love Can Do Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think this message is a bit similar to Two Hearts He keeps saying how things are wrong "Now the remedies you've taken are all in vain" "When the bed you lie on is nails and rust" love is the ultimate healer |

My favorite Springsteen, hands down. No idea why |
Bruce Springsteen – The Promised Land Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is about broken dreams "I've done my best to live the right way, i get up in the morning and go to work each day" He's doing all he knows, but life is still hard Also wondering if the mention of Utah has any meaning to support this, it was founded by Mormons as their "Promised Land", only to be followed out here by the US government and repressed again. |

Everywhere you look there's eyes in every shadow |
Bruce Springsteen – Magic Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The music makes me think of a snake charmer, possibly the government being the charmer and the people being the snake? |
Bruce Springsteen – Last to Die Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The end of the first verse: A voice drifted up from the radio We saw the voice from long ago i think is reaffirming that. I think he hears Kerry over the radio (during the election maybe?), and remembers his speech about Vietnam |
Bruce Springsteen – Gypsy Biker Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"You slipped into your darkness, now all that remains Is my love for you brother, lying still and unchanged" I think that in those lines, he's talking about America as well as the fallen soldier. He's saying that as a country we're going into a dark place, but his love for his country will always still be there. also i think these lines actually go: The favored march up over the hill, in some fool's parade Shouting victory for the righteous, but there ain't much here but graves |
