to me this song is not about her being admired. to me it's like sort of speaking in the third person. when she says "you're not allowed, you're uninvited. an unfortunate slight," i think that's her saying she desires a man she can't have. sort of like if he was married. when she talks about herself being flattered and intriguing i thinks it's her really saying he's flattered and intrigued. the reason i came up with this conclusion is on the part where she says "you speak of my love like you have experience love like mine before." to me that's him rejecting her. the ending lines would be what he tells her. |
