I'm pretty sure all of their "religious" songs are sarcastic and meant to portray the stupidity of certain beliefs/ lifestyles that are racist/ homophobic/ sexist. For example in this song it says " and jesus said they're girl's best friend and hell they'll last forever" and jesus said "now take her hand and raise this harlot's bastard sun" obviously jesus, as most christians see him, wouldn't say "hell" call a girl a harlot (prostitute) or say "bastard". it makes jesus kind of sound like a redneck. Which leads me to assume that cocorosie believes people bend their image of god or jesus to fit them. I think cocorosie do believe in god, but not a god that would hate so many minority groups. |
