I think that basically this song is about your position on earth, and feeling lost. Not geographically, spiritually. You're part of the human race All of the stars and the outer space Part of the system again The song tells you that you’re part of the cycle of life, I guess. I think “A Permanent State” is an important phrase. Like, about how everything changes, and nothing’s constant. That’s how I interpret it. If we’re talking religion, I think it sounds pretty linked with Buddhist ideas... or maybe that’s just me. I’m really not sure what the “it” in Maybe you'll know when you see it Is, but I think that sort of adds to the mystery of the song. The whole point of it is that you’re searching for something - answers - but you aren’t sure what exactly, because it’s not tangible. Maybe it’s enlightenment. Happiness is a good idea, too. If you ever feel like something's missing Things you'll never understand Little white shadows Sparkle and glisten Little white shadows feel like moments or ideas. I don’t have a clue, actually. How can you have shadows that are white, isn’t it an oxymoron? I think that’s the amazing thing about the lyrics, you can only interpret them in your own way. |
