Yes but it is one of the things everyone can relate to. That is why even if a song isn't about a relationship people will think it is, if that makes any sense. Songwriters write about what they know and many of Breaking Benjamin's songs are about relationships ever since they started. |

I'll give it a shot. The way I see it, He is tried of hurting and just wants to die to end the pain. In whatever comes after death(heaven as referred in the song), He will fear nothing and feel like he used to. Not sure what caused the pain in the first place, maybe a bad relationship or the never ending battle against alcohol which Ben surely is facing. |

I agree with upperman66. I believe it deals with the side of the story that isn't told in the book, Dimmesdale's point of view. He didn't wear the letter but the hidden guilt caused him more pain than Hester, who openly wore a scarlet letter. He ended up "carving" a letter into his chest and then died after revealing it to the town. As said anyone who has read the book would understand this song. |
