HAHA WTF? I never even thought about it being about sex. . . But now that I read it, it could totally be that. A dress that's black and tight, you beat me black and blue but I can see through you, you know it's up to you. Sadomasochism. lol Sweeet. |

I looooove this song.
Maybe she is talking to herself about just doing what she wants, reaching her goals, moving to the big city to be a rockstar lol I don't know. I think it makes more sense if you read it as though she is talking to herself. |

I think it's about being with someone you don't want to be with out of convenience and finally losing it and exploding with all these insults in their face. Including "I've been doing someone that you know." BTW, I'M CHEATING ON YOU! haha |

| The Sounds – Dance with Me Lyrics

Maybe it is about her being in love with this person but their relationship is more friendship or casual than she wants it to be. "And I'm afraid I need my baby, I'm afraid he doesn't know it yet. Someday I will tell him maybe, It's been like this since I don't know when, but it's great." This line is what tells me it's one of those things where you have the greatest time with someone, you tear it up and then you end up falling for them but they aren't on the same page. It sucks. |

| The Sounds – Crossing The Rubicon Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
|
"crossing the rubicon" means going to the point of no return which is what this song is about for the band. They've reached the point of no return with this new album which involved firing a lot of people they felt didn't have their hearts in it or didn't have the same ideas and goals. There's no turning back now, etc. I think they've hit the nail on the head because with this new album, unless people are completely ignorant, will propel them into household names in the US. |

ALSO it could be that the person she is singing about is not feeling the same but she ignores it because she is in love so she ignores the signs and hopes it will go away (or he/she will come around) (hence the crippling effect). |

I loveee this song. It's about being in love -- and perhaps also the crippling effect that falling in love can have on you! |

From an article about the album:
"4 Songs & A Fight” is about just that–the band was set to play four songs at a show and ended up in an alleged fight with another band. |

| The Sounds – Seven Days a Week Lyrics

SHe had a girlfriend of 3 1/2 years according to an interview in dec. 2007.
BUT this song is about her best friend, who was a prostitute, that overdosed (and died). As far as anyone knows, she was just a friend she loved very much. |

| The Sounds – Midnight Sun Lyrics
|
The midnight sun is something that happens in northern latitudes (aka Sweden where the band is from) wheree the sun comes up just above the horizon and then sets. FYI.
This could be about loving someone who makes them feel happy and free but that someone cannot find happiness and is at the same time a downer, like a midnight sun, it is beautiful and energizing but at the same time, you cannot get any sleep, it also has negative impacts on you. |

WHY must so many of their songs be cryptic?!!
My girlfriend thought of a very likely meaning:
Spousal/domestic abuse. |

It's about drugs. Withdrawal symptoms, being addicted and trying to let go but not being able to
But then again, love is the drug. |

| The Sounds – Beatbox Lyrics

Bring that beatbox back. The song is about bringing back the old beatbox dance music.
Some of the lyrics i think are just there for filler. Like, silver frame claim to fame -- late that night I saw a woman in red -- these seem to have nothing to do with the rest of the song lol |

| The Sounds – Tony the Beat Lyrics

HAHA why is this song even ON the songmeaning site?? It's the most obvious song ever. It's about ORAL SEX.
I think the primary hints would be
"lick it"
"get down and do what you've been told"
I agree with stizzleomnibus. Eat By The Ton. Clever! |

| The Sounds – Painted by Numbers Lyrics

First of all Maja is bisexual and when this song was written, she was with a girl, so it is interesting that everyone assumes it a song about a relationship between a man and a woman :)
To me, it means pretty much what everyone else has said only it seems either that the person singing is in a relationship that she does not find fulfilling and gets what she needs to get by (aka attention or sex or whatever) and that things are not going to change OR it could be a song split with both sides being sung. Like a conversation. |
