"I want to be clear about this. If you wrote from experience, you'd get maybe one book, maybe three poems. Writers write from empathy." -Nikki Giovanni Do I need to say more about that? |

| Late, but comeuppance basically means a deserved punishment. | |
| Dir En Grey – Mushi (English) Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I really can't agree that this is "dramatic BS made up". I've had no major heartbreaks/tragedies happen in my life as of yet; I've got two loving parents, an awesome older brother, an amazing school, a nice bunch of friends and am living in a typical middle-class style. Heck, even all four of my grandparents are still alive. I'm normal. Happy even. And yet, there are times that I can't help but feel what the lyrics describe. You don't have to have anything drasticly terrible happen to you to feel completely and utterly worthless (like an insect, in fact) occasionally. Yes, sometimes I do think that this song is overdramatic, but whenever I'm feeling like the lyrics, it just feels so... right. |

| Dir En Grey – Higeki ha Mabuta wo Oroshita Yasashiku Utsu (English) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Haha, yeah, I'm kind of doubtful of this story too. I'd wonder why he'd stop reading fanmail if he was afraid of feeling guilty for ignoring a suicide prelude, since not reading it at all is just about the same. >.> The only real cure for that would be to read and respond to everything. | |
| Good Charlotte – The Day That I Die Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Hmm... Actually, I have heard a few songs that are this upbeat that were about either suicide or killing someone. | |
| Dir En Grey – Ain't Afraid To Die (English) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Lol, that's why I like the TRTA version better. I think Kyo's voice matured a lot and he gained better control over the nuances, even though he was a bit flat throughout the entire thing. But since he sang the beginning and the middle part absolutely and ridiculously perfectly, I can deal with the other off notes. :) Not to mention that Kaoru and Die's solos were incredible in that version. | |

| Ahah, yeah this helped me on my endocrine system test too. ^^ Thank you Al. | |
| Dir En Grey – Machiavellism (English) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think you have the definition of 'machiavellism' mixed up with 'masochism'. Machiavellism is a view based on that of Niccolo Machiavelli, a 15th century Italian philosopher/writer. Basically, his philosophy were that all humans were opportunistic, backstabbing idiots who would jump at any chance for power or wealth. His most famous work, The Prince, put out there that its better for a ruler to be feared than loved, since people are more willing to obey you if they're going to get punished, than if said ruler is nice. Needless to say, he didn't have a very rosy outlook on life or people. | |
| Dir En Grey – Hades (English) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Hades is not only the Greek hell, he's also the god of death. Maybe referring to the drug (as a death god)? | |
| Dir En Grey – The Deeper Vileness Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Is it not allowed to not like -all- of a band's songs and still call yourself a fan? Don't get me wrong. This song is awesome if I'm in the right mood (as in I-want-to-pound-someone's-head-into-the-ground angry) but a lot of the time, it just gives me a headache (sensitive ears + metal = migraine). I love Diru as a whole, but some songs I have to be in the mood for. Would I really be less of a fan for that? | |
| Dir En Grey – Red Soil (English) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think with the in-one-ear-out-the-other idea isn't that the kids can't think about the idea, its that there's nothing there. If something can go in one ear and out the other, there's nothing in there blocking it. | |
| Dir En Grey – Hydra Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Wow, TheHalfanese, that makes a lot of sense. I was really kind of just ?.? at the lyrics of this song but that just cleared it up. And you made it even better by quoting Forrest Gump. XD |

| Dir En Grey – Dozing Green (Before Construction version) (English) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| THANK YOU SO MUCH. I wanted to know what they were saying for the longest time. Kinda crazy what a difference they have in the constructed version now isn't it? | |
| Dir En Grey – Toguro (English) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I get this sense of how humans don't like change. Anyone who does something differently and changes is shunned or 'shot'. 'Kill the tongue' = kill all dissent? "Darkness, Doubt and Human Nature Crave each other like crazy" I could be taking this too far, but doubt leads to the shooting of people who change or adapt, since people are suspicious of people different from them and if they're too 'weird', history has shown that they probably will be killed. 'She picks the petals of the butterfly smilingly Superiority Scatter peacefully Be broken so mount Shut your eyes and yourself from reality The loser human drifts forever It won't be heard' I get an image of a girl ripping off the wings of a butterfly while smiling kinda psycotically. Doubtless she feels superior to the poor insect that she just ripped the wings off of, robbing them of flight (another reference to the 'shooting of people who can adapt'?) and the wings of the butterfly flutter prettily to the ground. 'Be broken so mount' confuses me a bit. I think it may refer to the amputee butterfly. 'Since you can't fly, climb'? 'Shut your eyes and yourself from reality' I think refers to the girl basking in her own sense of superiority, when in reality, we really aren't that superior. These loser humans won't ever amount to anything or be heard. 'The demand and the gathering for the camouflage, the destruction of order in the lines Reality, entertainment, and the nothingness opens up the wound You trace the answer with your finger' Camouflage, the need for people who do things differently to hide. Maybe there's so many people who don't agree with the so called masses, but are too afraid that people will shun them that they keep their heads down. But even though they stand in line with everyone else, the line's not exactly straight or orderly, since so many people are harboring different opinions. I really don't get the next two lines. Maybe it'll come to me later. Sorry for the huge wall of text that probably didn't make any sense. ^_^; TL;DR- I love this song. |

| Dir En Grey – Agitated Screams of Maggots (Unplugged) Lyrics | 16 years ago |

That actually made me laugh pretty hard. I can't make out what he's saying, so I don't know whether there are words for it, or if its just literally [Kyo screaming]. xD He does some really chilling screams though. |

| Dir En Grey – Yokan (English) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I agree with the people above me, but there is a slight flaw with the fish-don't-last-very-long assumption. If you take care of the fish, certain species can live up to 25 years. Point in case, my goldfish is still alive 11+ years later. :) | |
