Regina Spektor – Us Lyrics 16 years ago
I get shivers down my spine whenever I hear the violin (just as Regina sings "They'll name a city after us" and again when it gets to "We're li-i-i-i-i-i-iving in a...den of thieves" through to the final "...it's contagious").

Also, does anyone else think that the way she sings the word "contagious" may well be the sexiest word ever sung?

Regina Spektor – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
I've never been a fan of the 4th verse in Jeff Buckley's version, so by omitting it Regina gets bonus points from me.

BTW check out Rufus Wainwright's version on the Shrek soundtrack for another beautifully controlled vocal performance.

There's no way I'm gonna choose between those 3 versions. Cracking song!

Regina Spektor – Reading Time with Pickle Lyrics 16 years ago
The problem I'm having with the pickle = penis theory is the line "...sleeping time, not sleepy...". This implies that she took a guy home, had dinner and then intended to just go to sleep. They then had sex simply because she wasn't tired.

It's a very odd way of describing this (not unusual for Regina), but I think it's also a very inelegant phrase, which IS unusual for her.

Now if there's one thing you can say about every Regina Spektor song it's that they are always beautifully elegantly written. I'm willing to believe that I've missed something that would make it make a little more sense but I can't figure out where.

HELP!!
