| Foo Fighters – I'll Stick Around Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Farhad's right fucksticks,Nirvana is twenty times better than Foo Fighters and Kurt's songwriting abilities fucking exceed Dave's. On the other hand, this has got to be more than just about Courtney who is indeed a bitch. I also think it is a general sense of a non-specific person/figure and Dave even said their songs are supposed to kinda morph depending on the listener, based on their life experiences. | |

Alright, I gave this a good long thinkin and I got it. Obviosly this song is religious. But no religious explanation so far has interpreted the chorus, exept for maybe fingersatmytips. So I took fingersatmytips' chorus theory and all the verse interpretations and I got it. It's about a demon. The verse tells the story of a fallen angel who disobeyed God and was sent down to Earth. I was on my way to the center of the sun When I lost my wings, and I fell into a crowd: We're gonna stick with the Icarus theory here, which acts as a metaphor for what this angel did. Icarus' FATHER granted him with a gift(wings). This gave Icarus ultimate freedom, but his FATHER gave him a rule, not to fly to the sun. The story of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden seem to ring a bell here, as they were given the garden and all the priveleges of Heaven with only one rule that the FATHER gave them: Dont eat from the tree. Of course they did. They had tried to eat the fruit of knowledge, tried to match up to God in a way, and FELL down to Earth. So this angel was given the gift of Heaven with one rule, dont try to match God(flying to the sun). The angel did this and was cast down to Earth as a demon. And they carried me, where no one could see And no one would be around: The demon fell to Earth where humanity rejected him, was scared of him. They 'buried him' by doing things such as ordering exorcisms and cleansings and things like that. AHH, I AM A VIRUS, AHH, I LIVE IN SILENCE: Fingersatmytips was right about an organism that in order to preserve its own existense must harm others. This chorus is about possesion, demons being compared perfectly to viruses. A virus is generally inactive(living in silence) until it finds a host cell(a person for the demon). The virus injects hereditary material into the host cells nucleus, and when the host cell reproduces, new viral particles are made. A demon finds a host person to posses, to live on, or with. The demons mission is to inject the devils hereditary material into human nuclei(our minds) by possesing a person and controlling their mind. SO the chorus is simply a metaphor for possesion. Now the second verse, returning to the story of the fallen angel, Goes back to the point where the angel was waiting for Heaven, before he/she disobeyed the Father. I was on my way to the city in the clouds(Heaven) When I lost my mind(faith) and I had to settle down(secular world, thanks haldir2012) And I had a dream of an island in the sea where the lepers die where no one survives, and no one can hear their cries: Possibly a sign that this person is evil, forshadowing the fact that he/she will be cast down from heaven as an evil entity. Leave it to Chris Cornell to come up with the most confusing set of lyrics I've ever read. |
