| Sucre – Hiding Out Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Sounds like it is a conversation between God/Jesus and her/humankind about his desire to be in our lives now that he has paid our debt to sin (through his death). We take him for granted and hide from him cuz we don't get that it's worth something, but he is dying for us (died for us) and our hiding is hard on him. God starts by saying... Oh, let me inside 'Cause my money is paid You have the right to remain 'Cause my money is paid Oh, you've been hiding Hiding out, hiding out I take it too hard You don't even mean it I'm dying for your love Then she finishes the rest of the lyrics. Just my opinion. I'm obsessed with this song. I want my interpretation to be right cuz it gives it so much depth, but if she was singing about a doorknob I'd be just as obsessed with it. :) |

I love everything about this song. Brooke is a true composer. I think this song is written from the perspective of someone dying and wishing they had a little more time with a loved one(s) and hoping they can be comforted by them and reminisce about the good stuff they've shared until it's time. So sad, so happy, so beautiful. |

| Paramore – Playing God Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I hear this song as her speaking to religious/hypocritical Christians or just hypocritical people who are judging her every move now that she is growing up and changing. Because she is a self-confessed Christian and now her life is under the religious microscope. | |

My personal interpretation... I hear this song as a conversation between God and Adam & Eve or, more broadly, the human race. God is saying I'll carry you through your trials and remember you when things are good (I think of you all the time, not just when you ask for me). Man says... when we started it was innocent (perfect) until we lost sight of right & wrong. Then they say... Until we meet again (Jesus returns) until it's like it was (in the beginning when it was innocent), until the answers start raining down (the truth is revealed), until the skies open up and the trumpet sounds (this is a biblical reference of Revelation 11:15-19... the trumpet sounds for his return and the heaven's open)... the rest is basically no more division, no more questioning, eternity is here. That's my take. |

| Paramore – Breathe Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I interpret this song as written from Jesus' perspective. The "Sweating all your blood" line is killer and in MY opinion is a reference to Jesus the night before he was crucified... “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.” –Luke 22:44 His blood was shed for humankind which is why I think they wrote "sweating all YOUR blood". Genuis. The rest is pretty self-explanatory if you listen from that perspective. Basically desperately "reaching" out trying one last time to get people to "listen" so he can fill their "empty hands" and assure them of hope and love in the future. I think in the chorus "he" is saying "just wait or keep going until tomorrow (future) cause I know that right now you have no hope (slaves to sin and death), but tomorrow (when I'm crucified and pay your debt) I'll make a new way for you. Hayley and Josh have an amazingly discreet way of writing about God (secret lover) I'm not saying you can't interpret this in other ways, but this is how I hear it. I think we can all agree that this is great writing and a great song. About sweating blood...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hematidrosis Hematidrosis (also called hematohidrosis) is a very rare condition in which a human being sweats blood. It may occur when a person is suffering extreme levels of stress, for example, facing his or her own death.[1] Several historical references have been described; notably by Leonardo da Vinci: describing a soldier who sweated blood before battle, men unexpectedly given a death sentence, as well as descriptions in the Bible, that Jesus experienced hematidrosis when he was praying in the garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22,44). |

| Flyleaf – All Around Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This is what the lead singer says about the song... http://flyleafonline.com/flyleafwiki/index.php?title=All_Around_Me Live, Lacey has prefaced All Around Me by saying: This song is for Jesus. "It's a song about meeting God. I remember looking at a bunch of people's Myspace when I first saw Myspace and the "Who I'd Like To Meet" the number one thing people picked was God. I think about that.. I don't know how many times I've experienced something where I felt like God showed up and saved me or loved me for no reason sometimes. That's why I sing this song, I sing it to God. It's really intimate as well, you can think about it as a relationship between two people in love, too. I never think about it that way.. but what's so cool about that is I think there's parallels everywhere.. in everything in life. I think that that parallel is something that God wants to communicate to us, that he gives us relationships like that, an intimacy like that." - Lacey Mosley (on LA Lloyd's ROCK 30) |
