It's fairly plain and simple. Good night moon and goodnight you. The book Goodnight Moon is about a bunny who is saying goodnight to everything in sight. In this song Jason is ellaborating on this aspect and is talking more specifically to a girl. He doesnt want them to go to sleep yet cause them the morning will come to soon. (And don't go to bed yet, love, I think it's too early, And we just need a little time to ourselves. If my wall-clock tells me that it's four in the morning, I'll give it hell.) He saying goodnight moon because the morning is coming asnd he knows that she has to leave soon. 'Cause I've been trying way too long to try and be the perfect song When our hearts are heavy burdens we shouldn't have to bear alone. he doesnt want to be alone. and wen he speaks about not caring the sun is rising hes saying he wants her to stay amd not to do watever it is she has to leave for. he also alludes to the book Goodnight Moon saying "Sitting in our bedrooms and read aloud like a passage from Goodnight Moon." saying goodnight to eachother. |

schism in definition means division or separation. If u no any thing about Maynard u'd no that his parents were divorced in 1968. Maynard seems to make this song in his mind about his parents separation and further on into his own separtion from his son's mother, but as we all should know maynard also formulates his songs for everyone to relate to his lyrics in their own way. ...I've done the math enough to know the dangers of a second guessing Doomed to crumble unless we grow and strengthen our communication This seems like a warning or advice that we need to redefine our relationships and of course this is advice towards anything or love life's or politics or friendships, anything. |

Hes being defensive and in his words "But I'm scared I'll get scared and I swear I'll try to nail you back up" its very common for ppl in a survival situation to attack thier rescuers so he makes a pact, "So do you think that we could work out a sign? So I'll know it's you, and that it's over so I won't even try" its fairly self explainitory that he's willing to go "with" as long as he's going to "heaven with jesus" and nowhere else. He's not completely trusting, which is why he says we've (being everyone) got have wood and nails. |

I'd say this song is more general that u'd expect. wen he says in the first verse "jack loves jill its hard to think about that now,we were so proud" hes reflecting on how wen in highschool these two ppl were so into eachother and now that hes older he doesnt c y. It goes with the lyrics...And high school sweet hearts,Kissing in the front yard,Jill loves Jack Cause Jack got a fast car now But if SHE found out... That if Jack drove an Escort this would be over now...wat hes saying is more about the popularity group. he has a cool car but if he had a beater car she wouldnt care about him. this song has alot to do with how more often, relationships in highschool are frivolous |
