| Leonard Cohen – So Long, Marianne Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
When i first heard the lines "You left when I told you I was curious, I never said that I was brave" I instantly imagined like a dude saying to the girl that he was thinking about seeing other women. then she goes "well fuck you then" and leaves and hes just sitting there going "I never said that i was brave" meaning "I thought about seeing other women but i never wouldve actually done it cos id be way too scared to." my idea got totally blown out the water when i read all these ^^^ other interpretations but you know i thought id share because first thought can be best thought,, ayeee |

| Lead Belly – Ain't It A Shame Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Good point, 2c-easy I just love the sarcasm or irony in this song. Im pretty sure leadbelly was a christian, so i think he's kind of criticising hypocritical christians who do bad shit (drinking, beating wives) all through the week then go to church on sunday and act all holy. but he says it all in a really humourous way. |

| Lead Belly – They Hung Him On A Cross Lyrics | 16 years ago |

hey everyone! This song is TOTALLY about jesus (I think) oh and I think "He never said among them would" is wrong. I think it's "He never said a MUMBLIN' WORD" peace out |

| The Rolling Stones – Street Fighting Man Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think the line "Cause summer's here, and the time is right for fighting in the street" is a reference to the Martha and the vandellas song, Dancing in the street. In that song it says "Cause summer's here, and the time is right for dancing in the street". I'm pretty sure that the Martha and the vandellas' song came out first. |

| Elemeno P – Death And The Maiden Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is a song by the Verlaines and COVERED by elemeno P very poorly. Okay, so paul verlaine and arthur rimbaud were both french poets in like 1900 or something. And they were a couple. but verlaine got drunk and shot rimaud in the arm (he didn't die though) so thats why it says "You'll only end up like rimbaud, get shot by verlaine" and i think death and the maiden is a painting (by edvard munch?) I think it's of a woman hugging a skeleton, so i guess that's what a photo of the guy in the song and whoever the song is to, would look like. |

| The Vaselines – No Hope Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| So the band takes turns singing the lines and it ends up being Frances who says "I drink all I can cause it makes me a man." Is that because it worked or fitted or was funny, or is she saying something about women drinking to fit in with men? | |
| The Beatles – Let It Be Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think everything has already been said about this song, but I always hear this short soft whisper after the line "For though they may be parted". It's most prominent on a Cd like No.1s but still on the album too. | |
