Such beautifully visual lyrics for feelings. Tying the "big apple" into the garden of eden...and how he won't just wait for the clarity - he's digging for it using his guitar as the shovel. I also love the descriptive lyrics of the feelings that one is supposed to have, and hoping that it will all be different now that he sees clearly. Beautiful. |

For me this song was all about that kind of person that just instantly strikes a chord in you, motivates you, catches your thoughts...he's definitely thinking sexually...and seems to be having trouble merging those feelings with how fantastic she's making him feel - that "symmetry between dirty and pristine". He doesnt believe any of the stories he's heard because he knows they have a connection of some sort and she's inherently his match. I didn't even read the stripper/porn influence until now, and can kinda see that...but she seems more like one of those "life of the party" people...someone everyone is drawn to and mesmerized by. Either way - it's a badass song. Reminds me somewhat of the Pet Shop Boys in it's repetition. |

I also have had this on constant repeat for about a month now. Can't get sick of it...LOVE how he sings the "thought I couldn't do this without you, single in this bed somewhere". They're always so fantastic at catchy songs with surprisingly deep lyrics. "I know I can't do without, the future's trying to wait" definitely about trying to hold onto hope that the relationship will come back...trying to hold off on all the changes that come when splitting up. |
