I personally think that this song is about a guy loving a girl and she knows this and uses him to hurt him but the guy is still just totally enamoured with her, that would explain the contrast in the line "In this perfection I lament her beauty, Her voice a sour note, In this bitter serenade" and he starts thinking about her "And all those things I could have Would have Should have said Ring out like gunshots across long lost days If that wasn't love then what the fuck was I thinking?" this is when he realises that he's being pathetic but he goes back to the same thoughts "I would bear my soul just to Bask in your grace and your beauty Your strength inspires all of my days I would carry any load Just to bear your cross for a day" he is totally entranced by her the only other reason I can think of for the constant contrast is that its about Bi polar disorder, but thats just a random guess |
